From: Walker Moore More likely the sound of hairdryers as all the cute guys simultaneously get ready for a night out down at Revenge. Brighton has an awful lot in common with San Francisco. I just wish architecture was one of those things. LMAO What's wrong with decrepit Regency? /me looks round my place Oh yes I remember now. Yeah, Nob Hill please (No, not in Brighton. Would have been applying for a job by now).

Brenda said... "Of course the humming sound could the sound of Lindens trying to think." and it made my afternoon... i pondered all the security fenced sites one can imagine in the UK, for example every electricity sub station..they hum, some, like the US airbases patrolled by armed guards, and hidden inside... A Linden.. thinking..quite loudly.. Perhaps thats why my PC hums.. perhaps there is one in every Hummer... look out theres a Linden about...

Designed by Canadian Wells Coates -- who was gay, btw, though I don't think that's why he was in Brighton -- EC is a great example of Thirties modernism. http://www.embassycourt.org/wc.htmA bit of ephemera I cannot stop myself from passing along, Coates died in Vancouver in 1958 while swimming in English Bay. According to a contemporary friend and fellow architect, now dead, it put quite a pall on their plans for "a bijou evening."
