I wish we could have studied computer games when I was in College, instead all that stupid History and Literature my parents paid all that money for.

It's for my graduate thesis, and I will definitely post the results when I am completed with it. Thanks for your help!

Umm I was blasting aliens and asteroids long before you were filling your diapers.
So if you aint pulled on an Atari joy stick before 1980, you might want to reconsider
that “us” original gamers. :)

Thank you for making me smile at the memories of being willing to miss the last bus home from the arcade to ensure my top score on various and sundry coin ops.

We teens of the 70s and 80s were such die hards, were we not?

Granted you do have the 70s on me, but beginning gaming in the early 80s, I'd like to think I was at least part of the early gaming generation. These kids today don't know what they're missing.

especially here cause everyone is so sick of being surveyed

real gamers drink their coffee by IV
real gamers keep a bucket by the chair

I used to know a bunch of those from joking around on vent (WoW) but can't remember them now cause I'm an original gamer and therefore my memory has started to fade

Bucket?
This ain't the middle ages you know, haven't you ever heard of a funnel and hose through the wall? :)

For grad school project, I'm conducting a research project on MMORPG gamers.
SL really is not an MMORPG game, therefore I am not an MMORPG gamer.

.... us original gamers ....
This made me spit coffee all over my monitor.

"us" original games started our gaming with text based games, which most of "you" original gamers never heard of.

The last guy offered L$150 per person to take his survey. What do YOU think my time is worth?
you're time is prob worth a lot more than I can afford to pay.
At least there is some sense in his head.

And the laughs just keep coming.

When I was 21, I thought 30 was old. Now that I am far past 30, anyone in their 20s is still a kid.

Most definitely, which is why I did add the comment about my views when I was 21.

Maybe by the time you get really old and turn 30 - and hopefully before you have to write up your project - you'll find out where the shift key is on your keyboard.

Pie (Or maybe "original gamers" only use shift keys as pinball flippers?)

i thought this was a forum about SL, not an english style class. why do i have to capitalize words? just to conform because some dead dude 800 years ago decided i have to?

Because your name isn't c. c. cummings.
When making a foray into a text-based environment, it helps to speak the language. Properly.
Why captialize? Why use question marks? Why, indeed, use the letter "m"? Why not invent your very own language? Why not put yourself in charge of re-inventing the English language and the rest of us shall stand up and applaud.

Hey, Argent! I actually remember that game!

we've actually had philosophical debates over such topics and we actually agree in principle. realistically though, we all have to conform to the "man" in order to get what we want/need, but its up the individual to determine how much conforming he/she wants to do factoring in how much those things are worth to us.

i'm pretty sure everyone can decipher my sentences without capitalization. i'm talking about not capitalizing words, not making up crap from scratch.

We constantly get asked to participate in surveys.

Anybody seen an avatar of a lab rat available?

I think I smell cheese.
