"An AR would have taken weeks and would have just gotten dismissed because it involves resident-to-resident transactions which LL simply doesn't get involved in."

That sentence keeps coming back to me in my nightmares :)

Fraudster emptying peoples' accounts
- LL have no way for residents to report this to them other than dumping it into a sea of non-fraud ARs.

A dedicated Fraud-reporting channel would no doubt be subjected to non-fraud incomings, but what about the cost/benefit.
What happens to people who make in appropriate 999/911/112 whatever emergency cals in RL?
Where I come from they get an attitude-adjustment opportunity.

actually there was a case of this happening to someone who reported on the forums - they lindens decided the transaction was a "gift" even though it was an obvious theft, after a case of password theft.

I think that did ultimately get resolved, but I don't remember hearing the rest of the story.
