From: LittleMe Jewell We could probably get a large collection quickly. I have had groups telling members to go get the Emerald viewer because they get the extra attachment points -- and I am pretty sure that the vast majority have no clue that others do not see things attached the way they do. Some of the people who add features to the standard viewer are crazy. They add features "because they can" and not because they are good. Those extra attachments points is a very good example. Some of the features are excellent, of course, but some are just stupid.

The problem isn't that it's not a good feature, it's that it's not one that can be usefully added just by adding it to one viewer... everyone has to have them.

They added it because they could, but it's no good unless it's the standard.

It's one file that is very easily transposed over. From the looks of it there is no reason there can't be 3, 4 or 5 slots. It's just an XML file that defines the attachment points. The file from Emerald works in the LL viewer and I would bet any other viewer unless it was extensively rewritten to dispose of it. I mean LL could at least update their file to allow 2 attachments for each hand. As for crashing, freezing and inventory issues, make sure SL and Emerald are not sharing the same cache folder as they do by default. They tend to not share well.

Some of the features are excellent, of course, but some are just stupid. Well I think it's quite good that someone was able to supply the customer base with something they've been asking LL for since 2003 and seeing LL have shown zero interest in providing a proper solution, the market had no choice but to use a jury rigged workaround. Even if just to prove it's not as impossible as LL seem to make out and people really do want it.

Except the market just succeeded in making themselves look like doofuses, with hair and hats and wrist cuffs all stuck on "pelvis". And you can delete posts, Tegg.
