From: Ricardo Harris Some friends of mine found out a female in sl was actually a male because of the word, dude. He 'fessed up later on.
I'm sure females use it too but it's not that common. I use "dude" occasionally, to get someone's attention, since folks don't expect it. As you see, it works. .

I don't mind people in my places as long as I'm not there. There has been a few times where I would catch a couple in my bed going at it. I would wait till the clothes are all off then eject them hoping they end up in some crowded place.

I don't mind people coming on my land, swimming in the pool, looking at the horses, the garden and green house but I draw the line at my home. That is my private space and since I pay the tier and buy all the objects I think I have the right to privacy if I want it. I took down the land orbs so people could come and enjoy the landscape but they can go up just as quickly has they came down if I feel people are disrespectful.

From: DaQbet Kish And since we’re passing out secrets…if the doors are locked all you need to do is cam inside and find something to sit on like a chair…right click and Sit. Voila! You’re inside! But you didn’t hear that from me. This sort of thing would get you banned on my property. I've always been a gracious hostess and invited explorers around for a tour if I'm at home, actually met a couple good friends that way. But my menu driven furnishings are set to group and my doors stayed locked. I don't really mind people wandering about the property or camming in if i'm not there, but forced entry is a bit over the top and i don't tolerate it, if I catch it happening. And Ricardo... I'm a real female, but I tend to have mostly guy friends and I've been known to say "dude" to my buddies on occasion when I'm in a goofy mood, but not usually to men I don't know well.

As a noob, I considered it a challenge to get into a locked home. Now I realize how rude that was. Now, I cam into the builds if no one is there. And if it looks like one of those builds that are so well done you just "have to" walk through, I send an IM and ask permission first. My homes have always been open to the passerby. If I can't make the door stay open, I remove it. Alllll wellllcome... Oh yeah, my home has no bed.

Hah, I use "dude" all the time, usually as a joke. I wonder how many people other than Ricardo use that as a gender-determination device. Maybe it's an American thing, but up here us females are free to use words of our choosing.
Good point earlier, though. It's all fun if someone good-naturedly takes their lumps upon getting caught and ejected, quite another if they then start whining loudly about evil land owners kicking their self-entitled butts out of their holdings.

I will cam into interesting builds - usually I check the minimap to make sure no one is home first.

From: Max Pitre Some people do care about their "image" even if it is just an avatar. That's why I've never used someone elses house for explicit things. I think if you're willing to do that much, a crowd seeing you nekkers won't bother you overly much. Then again... on this account I've never DONE explicit things..and only like 2 people have seen me nekkers o.o

The only person in rl that ever called me 'dude' was my daughter. She only tried it once though.

It might have something to do with where a person lives. A large number of the gals around me use the term, but many of us have also spent a lot of time on ranches and that is where I first started using the term.

You all certainly have the right to ban and eject anyone who’s on your property. Hell shoot first and ask questions later. Only twice that I can remember did I log on to find someone actually in my house and each time I told them to leave and they did. Locked doors make no more difference then having the blinds on. If people want to see whats inside a place they can and will! Whether they cam in or drag their avatar in. And really whats the difference? Especially if you’re not there to know one way or another. Actually I find it more disturbing that someone would sit off at a distance and cam on me while Im there then walk around my house when I’m not. Its not like they are going to scratch something, leave finger prints, or pack up the silverware and haul it off. But hey, it was a newbie thing for me when I did it and now I have no interest in other peoples excite beds or their set of crap poseballs. But if you all think that locked doors and blinds drawn are somehow going to protect your avatars privacy then you better put up your lovely ban lines too. Or get a $2 security orb to protect your $4 house. Oh wait, if its nicely furnished then your $8 house. Or pay some real money for your own private island. Dude!

From: Nika Talaj Hi Cen, psst, a secret:
<.<

In the Advanced menu up top, put a check by "Disable Camera Constraints" and uncheck "Limit Select Distance" and, if your Graphics Distance is set long enough, you'll be able to look inside places using your camera without going into them. . I can't find this Advanced menu.

B. I don't use that word to gauge whether it's really a female or not. That, I do by gauging everything about the female. And yes, it depends on the neighborhood which words are used. Neighborhood or people. Dude is a word not really used in my neighborhoods. It's more common among white males.

I don't have a house as such. I have a waterfall filled cave in the sky and another waterfall/natural pool on the ground. I am always happy when someone explores, and hopefully derives pleasure from looking around my home (or even spending time relaxing there) regardless whether I am there or not. All I ask is if I am there that you are polite and respectful. The only time I may ask you to leave is if I am trying on clothes, but as I rarely log in now that is not often

I don't lock my doors. I just have a little one room home above my workshop and if someone wants to come in they are welcome to. It would take them all of 2 minutes to figure out there is nothing to do, the bed doesn't have a menu.
I used to have a big fancy house and would lock the doors on it. It amazed me how people would walk up there and click on the door a dozen times even though they were getting a message it was locked....I guess thats the equivalent of wiggling a door handle back and forth in RL.
I would wander into homes when I was new....but would never use anyone's stuff, especially a bed or private items (I didn't know how to at the time...even if I did I still would of left it alone in fear they would come home).
I do cam into places ALL the time...if I've been in your sim, chances are I've looked inside your home via cam. I am nosy that way, I like to see how people decorate and ideas people come up with.
