Has anyone had his/her avatar tracked? There's a new SL traffic monitoring tool (slogbase) available to landowners who want to track avatar traffic to and within their land - by avatar name!
Just curious if any landowners have started using it. You would know because the tool is supposed to give you a message when it "detects" you, to tell you that you were tracked.

You wouldn't be associated with this project by any chance?
I am taking a look, it is always interesting to see other people's code....

I'm certain many of the successful stores are using tools like that. For businesses on the traditional web, such tracking is *invaluable* to improving the user experience. I've been meaning to add something like that to my own land, but... I'm tired...

I got the distinct whiff of advertisement too.
What is it and how does it differ from the loads of other visitor counters out there?

Some furry avatars can be tracked by their pawprints.

I have a friend who has one on her property, a different model. It is just a visitor counter which also records the name of the AV. Pretty common.

I can script something to track traffic on my land without logging people's names or UUID's. There is no reason why you would need to track people's names unless you plan to use them for sending them IM spam, or those random unsolicited group invites which seem to becoming more frequent.

If you wanted to track repeat business and such, you would need avatar name and/or uuid. I just find it amuzing that the supposed author of a tracking tool is asking if anybody's using the tool.. Something funny there, I think. Maybe.

Tracking repeat business can be done without lagging a sim with sensors, or compiling a list of names and UUID's for every person on your parcel. Some people may just be moving through to the next parcel. There are far better ways to track repeat business than this.

If you owned a whole sim with different attractions, this might be a useful tool to you. slogbase I have a successful business, with one relatively small store and don't see how I could benefit much from using it. I also don't see any harm in the information that is being collected. Much ado about nothing. "Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean that they are not out to get you!"

What makes you think the OP authored this tool? If you followed the other post and links it shows that she is the author of this article in the SLNN news Slogbase is watching you? Traffic monitoring in SL by Zeina Zehetbauer October 20, 2007 about the device, which raises some of the concerns voiced here.
