I haven't been watching the Lindex recently. I wonder if the big increase in sale orders came with a corresponding decrease in buy orders. That would be the result of Supply Linden dropping a lot of lindens in a market sell. The money flippers on the buy side immediately turn around and offer on the sale side as soon as their buy orders go through. The economics statistics page hasn't been updated, so this could explain it away.
Another interesting thing on the economic statistics page is the PMLF data. Comparing March to August and looking at the categories from $200-$500 and higher, every group is experiencing a nice growth rate over the 6 month period. Considering that the summer is the worst time for online worlds and the RL economic troubles over this time, this is an extremely positive trend for SL.

From: Raudf Fox I agree with Matthew, because as it happened with the casinos, so too will it happen with the ad farms. The ad farmers are getting out what they can. WOOT!

There is a quite different question of whether the LindeX *should* remain steady, as the US$ loses value against all other major world currencies. But to move the L$ correspondingly, it should be getting more expensive in US$ terms (fewer L$s per weaker US$). Or, to put it another way, if the L$ / US$ exchange rate remains constant or rises, everything denominated in L$s loses value against other currencies (and against gold, or oil, or pork bellies).
As to what's currently going on: Does anyone watch the statistics consistently enough to know how up-to-date the numbers are for Supply's selling? If that selling is really dramatically reduced from last month, it would be a Very Bad Thing... but I vaguely recall somebody once saying that this statistic was meaningless until the following month.

The supply selling fluctuates a good amount from month to month, but I have yet to see it this low so late in the month.
It gets updated every couple of days along with the rest of the statistics.

From: someone There is a quite different question of whether the LindeX *should* remain steady, as the US$ loses value against all other major world currencies since the L$ is not traded on world-markets, i think it will react little to nothing if the US$ should weaken more, is this bad ?, i am not sure ..yes land would be worth less , but tier would be cheaper (non US) ,and total L$ spend would rise ? From: someone Oh yeah! definite sell out... i noticed a sh%t-load of 16sqm's beeing sold yesterday at 2,8L$ .

From: Salvador Nakamura i noticed a sh%t-load of 16sqm's beeing sold yesterday at 2,8L$ Yeah, I literally bought 300 of them Thing is 300 16s at L$50 each is L$15000 which in terms of the LindeX is minuscule. Ad farmers really don't have that many assets. They're unlikely to be cashing out a lot of money.

so even if there where 1000 adfarmers selling out 1000 parcels, at L$3.5sqm , it wouldnt be noted on the lindex (L$3.500.000) maybe its mostly reserves beeing traded, partially adfarmers cashing out because their business is death and regular users for the US$ scare.

Interesting times. Hey Elanthius you know I can't quite figure out how to put it together, but there's gotta be some kinda really cool 'random act of kindness' you could do with all those pesky 16 meter parcels all over the place. The tier isn't much on them, the cost was maybe that of a fancy dinner - but wow you've got an opportunity to win hearts and minds with those. Whatcha think? It would be a *lot* of work to offer them to responsible parties in each region... not sure how viable a plan that is. Maybe a few thousand dollars worth of your time. But there's gotta be something. If I wasn't wall-to-wall busy with my own stuff it's something I'd love to fuss with - but I just can't. Hey, maybe offer all 300 to the Arbor Project or something for the price paid? Would get the fuss of them off your back, at least.

Well, I you know I love to toot my own horn so I'm glad to remind everyone that every parcel I own of 64sqm or smaller has a big sign on it saying that it is free to anyone with an adjoining parcel they've owned over 30 days. I suppose I could also run around IMing everybody in the entire sim offering the parcels up. Theoretically I have the technology to do that automatically but it might be a little spammy.
