Well this thread really livens things up.:(

Things will get better---maybe all you need is a long break and a rethink. Give yourself time to see the balance again.

And don't just find another game. (for instance----Ignore the release of Hellgate London in 6 weeks, even though it could provide a nice release of bent up frustration.)

Voodoo, hope you find what you need on your path - but if it winds it's way back to SL, rest assured there are some of us here that want nothing more than some silliness and fun, and would be overjoyed to have another goofy soul join in that quest...

...no strings attached...

...well...depends on what that string is attached to - and what it's doing...

I wish you well.

The forums will be different without you.

This will be my last post in this or any other forum dealing with Second Life. Like so many others but for other reasons I have decided I have had enough of Second Life and its time to focus back on my first life. I came to Second Life and was so impressed at the time with the framework of it and the people who make it what it is.

After doing the DJ thing with some of the bigger clubs in SL I found my calling in building prefab nightclubs and I have tried to give people in Second Life good support and products.

In time though I have found people in Second Life to be snakes in the grass so to speak. Not everyone but at least a lot of the people I run into. People try to take advantage of you in every way they can, spread lies and are dishonest.
I have fought and fought to protect my good name over and over again but I am tired…
I have been in Second Life for over a year and I am just tired.

I find a lot of people to be so fake in real life and I thought Second Life would be different. I guess I put my hopes to high.

Recently I have had somebody attempting to run my name into the ground by making false claims. Which anyone who knows me, knows that I am not like how they have claimed but it’s the principle behind it all that bothers me most. It seems the more successful you are in Second Life the more you are hated for no reason at all.

I am the type of person even in real life that tends to keep to him self and finds himself deep into his art. I am a real life tattoo artist and I also do digital art as well but since I have been in SL I have found that I have floated from these things that keep my soul burning into this black hole of nothing. It’s my art that keeps me alive, that makes my mind run into endless dreams that lets me bring out who I am inside. So many people put on fake faces and never really truly know who they are. I guess we all wear a face at times in our lives. I am sure Second Life has a lot of good people in it, but for some reason I just never found most of them. But everyone has their own opinion of Second Life which is what makes Second Life what it is.

My dad passed away suddenly a few weeks past and it took a bigger toll on me then even I thought it would. I have just found without going into a lot of detail that its time for me to leave this digital world we call Second Life. I find myself being short with people and wanting to just hide in a dark room.

I am now dealing with my own real life health issues and I am just tired. I do not want to get into it all but I am getting older and feeling it I guess. Second Life has been a great way to help support my family with the extra money I make outside of my real life job but I am just tired…

VooDoo DESIGNS will continue to exist however the VIP group will be dismantled this week and messages will only be checked once a month. All production has stopped and will not be resumed. VooDoo DESIGNS by VooDoo Bamboo is done.
All products will still be there but that’s it. The land will be paid for monthly and that’s about it.

It’s time for me to retreat back to my real life artwork and my music. They are the two things that keep me sane in this messed up world we live in today.

I want to thank everyone who has supported me through time here in Second Life.
To those who did get to know me, take care of yourselves.

I leave you all with these 3…

Sweety,

I hope this isnt about our recent chats?
The matter never even got to a serious level Voodoo I just had to follow up on the info I was provided with.
And I can promise you nothing discussed with go further than me & you and the one other person on our team.

I do know your name and TRUST me I sympathise with you on the statement of success in SL it gives some reason justification to hate by default ( see my groups )

Theres a lot of ppl out there with low self esteem and low morals and the mear fact someone else has worked their asses off to achieve success somehow makes them angry and want to destroy u

I get hate mail and threats on occasions for no apparent reasons...sometimes form ppl who were caught reselling and had to be issued take down notices
Ive had friends steal from me both literally and also ideas and concepts and even took the TRU name to other worlds and set up txtr stores causing me to have to Trade Mark my name at a huge cost...and this was a 'friend'

Success in sl is stressfull - so much so Ive developed depression and physical illness as a result and hear of many other people suffering the same way.

Accusations from high profile stores to other smaller stores because their feeling the squeeze of competition and so their way of dealing with it is to file false DMCAs or threaten to... it goes on and on.

If you need some one to talk to please drop me a notecard...you will find your not alone in this.

Never met you avatar to avatar Voodoo - but I admire your work very much. I am so very sorry to hear of the death of your father - both my parents are dead now, so I know how tough it is. People say "you'll get over it" - but I don't think you ever do really "get over it" - in time things feel easier, but you always have that loss. It's part of the human condition, if that's not being too Shakespearean/dramatic.

I'm afraid SL is like the open internet now - probably best taken in smallish doses and seen in the context of the world wide web - and you have to be circumspect about people you meet on the net.

Wherever your life takes you, I send every good wish for the future and take care of yourself.

Sorry to see you go, Voodoo. But you don't need to go completely - even if you just keep going on a basic account you'll be able to come back to SL to see the places you enjoyed.

I'm just coming up to my year in SL too, but I'm keen to stay. I haven't had any nasty experiences with anyone, other than silly griefers who are really no more than a nuisance. I intend to stay but re-focus my SL life and reduce my online-ness a bit.

Take care of yourself, Voodoo.... I am truly sorry to hear about your father. I understand you, I felt the same when I lost my own father.

And yes, RL is important and should have always the first priority. Luckily I have a good balance between my First Life and Second Life (which may be noted that I am not that much in SL as most). To chose for you first life is a good path to follow....

Be Well and Safe,
Morwen.

Why not just get an alt, and continue in SL - forget the folks you knew before, the places you hung out at - there are some good folks there...honestly:) Maybe you should explore a bit more, go to places you never did before, have a change of scenery. I"m sorry for your loss, and hope things are brighter for you soon.

I agree with that.

SL is something to dip in and out of, unless you have put in (or have) a lot of money at stake in the numerous in game businesses.

I have always had an interest in so called virtual worlds; it started with Doom, progressed through to The Age of Empire games via Microsoft, diverted into SL (which I agree is unlike most other offerings) and reverted to type (Me) with WoW.

It can be great fun to loose yourself for days, weeks, or even months within virtual worlds. Indeed I remember being determined to get through the seven original levels of Doom at level 3 without cheating, and spent several months achieving that goal.

Currently I am doing something similar with WoW.

But I am lucky, I have a FL job and lifestyle that allows me to indulge without (touch wood) damaging anything in real life, a bit like Golf I suppose, in short a hobby

I think people should try to limit themselves to what they can safely achieve within VR without hurting themselves, financially or emotionally, and if it all gets too much, have the strength of will to withdraw.

Just a personal view

I'm sorry for your loss VooDoo. My Mom passed almost a year ago - it's still hard, with some days being much better than others. The good news is that the good days are starting to outnumber the bad ones. I hope that you find some tranquility.

I am completely stunned right now. I have been thinking this all over and am just really touched by all the responses I got both in world and out. People have 100% restored my faith in the fact there are good people in Second Life.

I have decided to stay :-)

However I plan to take some time exploring SL even deeper. I want to find the great things and places for Second Life instead of running into the bad all the time.

Thank you to everyone who has shown me support, it really means allot. I can not say thank you enough.

VooDoo, take it easy. Come back when you're ready...or when a super cool competitor comes out with a SL killer.

ps. lol, when I first starting viewing the top Youtube video...I thought it was created in SL...I was like...damn, that's impressive...lol...but it's from FF...anyway.

Take it easy.

as a "former" customer of voodoo i can asure you that not all is as it seems here. Treating people with respect is as important as the product you sell.
love the work you do, don't much care for your business ethics.
