For a good while now, about every couple of days or so, I've been noticing things in my home have been messed with... things like pose sets unhidden, windows open, bed left on, radio and TV settings/stations changed, etc... So a little over a week ago I went and bought a visitor tracker just to see who's doin the nasty in my house. After seeing the same names again and again, I can pretty much assume that it's a French couple, both 2008 accounts, that have decided my house is a nice place to get it on. Yeah it is :p and for the most part I dont really care, but today's incident was a little more annoying. When I arrived home, my tracker identified me as always, and then right away it identified the French couple as leaving the area, and having stayed for 35 minutes. I did see their blips on the minimap for a few seconds. Inspection of my house revealed they had been sitting on my couch watching adult video's on my big screen, which they kindly left on in their haste to leave.
The part that annoys me is the sneaking around... bailing out quick if I show up on my land (I Tp/rez on an adjacent parcel more than 70m away, so I know they used an AV scanner), and most likely mapping my house waiting for me to leave if I happen to be home when their mood strikes. So I did add them to the parcel ban list, though that isn't usually my style for this sort of thing. I'm a modern, reasonable woman, and I know how it can be in SL... why wouldn't these people just IM me and say they love my place, and ask if they could "visit" once in a while? I surely would have said "glad ya like my place, no prob - have fun, just put stuff back when you're done", and gone about my business like they weren't even there

You could consider it your house being haunted, which sort of adds a certain charm and mystery. :-)

Maybe, when you're not at home, you should set your land so people have to pay to enter the parcel. Charge something like $100 per hour entry fee and, if they're keen enough, you can have a regular income :)

I had something similar going on once, and I made a BIG sign which "welcomed" them and told them to leave the bed made and a tip for the maid. They came one more time for 10 minutes and never came back.

Thanks all.. yes it really is funny, and kind of not at the same time. I guess my problem stems from being a straight forward person. I have a hard time understanding "why" someone wouldn't just ask if it was ok. I mean, yeah my place is nice, but not nice enough to want to keep looking over my shoulder while "occupied" so I wouldn't get caught by the owner.
*light comes on* Hmm, maybe THAT's the reason.. danger thrill..

You should have tried to secretely video them bonking on your bed then place the vid in you adult collection in the hopes that they stumbled accross it the next time they turn up to watch your big screen.

I had something similar once, which was interesting enough also a French couple. Either the same couple, or it's their national sport I guess. Anyway, I had to ask them to leave, since I was intimately involved with someone myself, which they did.
The guy however did throw some rather bad language at me on their departure, so I simply informed the Estate owner, and he banned them on every single island he owns :)

The problem wasn't so much using my place, by all means, when I'm not around, it's a shame if it's left unused. But the problem of the couple was, being totally unrespectful to me.

I like the idea of the tipjar, by the way :D

Because many people in SL are not as open minded as you are. Many of us get ejected and banned for just stumbling upon a private parcel - not even intruding into someone's home, just wandering around the grid. How could anyone expect to be welcomed for doing something more intrusive?

I've opened my home up to anyone as long as I'm not there. That may be facile for me to say since I've been on a PG sim and don't even have a bed let alone intimate pose balls, but even if I did - I normally wouldn't see any harm in it.

What those people did was very disrespectful though. I would say juvenile.

I used to have some Brazilians living on my land. I just left them alone - in fact I would leave if I logged in and they were there. I just thought it was amusing. I don't know why people are so self-protective that they lock down their virtual possessions.

Consider that the couple may not feel comfortable speaking English, or that the illicit aspect might heighten their enjoyment.

I am really Dana's neighbour in SL and, Dana, I spotted an orb floating through my sky box this lunch time. I tried to shoot it with my trusty Uzi but it disappeared. You and I are haunted by the same person(s). Contact me in sl when you see this person and we'll deal with them. Jig.

There used to be a werewolf that landed on your roof - remember him? I just used to think you were into playing "Hi Santa!"

Maybe someone needs to invent time sharing in SL.

LMAO!! Absolutely brilliant! Think they would get the hint when they saw themselves?

Even though I've never been banned or asked to leave anywhere, this does kind of put it in a different perspective.. TY's.

No Jig, the "hi santa" thing was with that guy who was dressed like.. umm.. santa. The cost to get on his nice list sure has gone up lately... before it just milk and cookies :(

hey

as long as people can set their last location at viewerstartup as long they will use others home as theirs, why should someone pay for premium or pay tier for land.

i have a parcel on mainland its open for all, but its more my office.
i also have my own sim running (private island) - its group only.

im not a friend of banlines but i can understand why people have it on their land

Hi Dana,

What if you just IMd them, said hello, and came up with a mutual arrangement?

I tend towards the same attitude as you, in that it's SL, and if I'm not there I can't really see the issue with others popping in to use the amenities (it's not as if the sheets get crispy or anything).

You never know, you might make two new friends.. if nothing else you seem to share the same taste in soft furnishings.

Or just ban their cheeky asses.. whichever suits..:)

I used to not bother about people wondering around my home as didn't get too many and I don't spend much time on the ground on my tropical beach ..... that is until quite recent. I have lived on the same island for one and a half years and I suddenly found couples were using my cave for sex and found people making themselves comfortable in my large skybox home 600m up. The time I was laying on my sofa with my partner and someone logged straight in on top of us I decided enough was enough.

I now have bee hive security on both land and skybox. It's actually quite amusing to watch the bees chase people off :o
