Anyone know what I can do about this?
I bought a set of skins from a well-known store today -- cost L3000. When I looked at my transactions later, I found that the vendor had taken my money twice -- so I have paid L6000 for a single set of skins. There were 2 identical transactions, a few seconds apart, but only one object delivery. L3000 is a lot to lose.
I sent a notecard to the store owner, but she has not replied.
I have assumed that somehow SL is at fault, not the store. Do you think am I right?
Also how do I know if the store-owner has got, or will get, my notecard? So may things going wrong right now.

did you get 2 sets of skins? Maybe ask the creator for a different version to compliment your other purchase if they are no-transfer.
send an IM in addition to the notecard, as I can tell you I hardly ever check my notecards, but get all my IM's in my email.
I would proceed in creating a trouble ticket via the secondlife.com website as well. If the creator resolves the issue, you can always close the ticket.

You can't do anything other than notify the owner, which you have already done, and hope that they are honest enough and get around to returning you're money.

Give her more than a few hours to respond. People have lives outside of SL and it could be a few days before she can get back to you.

Oh, dear.
/sarcasm: Their IM's are capped so don't expect any response.

Send a notecard explaining in a polite way what happened and tell the day of transactions so s/he can check on transactions history.

What concerns me is this: I know that notecards don't always arrive when SL is having a bad day - it has happened to me before. So it is impossible to be sure that the store owner got it. Just have to be patient I suppose.

Happy ending!
She returned the L3000 immediately.
Thanks for all the advice.

Thanks for all the advice. Rare sight indeed. Maybe it should be declared an sl holiday for such a rare event taking place.

Ricardo is just generally grumpy about customer service in SL. Apparently he's had a lot of bad experiences, so he assumes everyone else will too.

Yes, it's the right thing to do but it's not always the case. You have to get them to respond to you first and that in itself is something of a miracle in progress. I'll give credit where it's due. There are some who take responsibilities for their items and will give you a refund or an exchange. Just don't expect it from all of them.

In 99.99% times the merchant will return unearned money. Sometimes the merchant doesn't receive both transactions. The cash can go to the "system" sometimes... meaning the buyer lost it, but the merchant didn't received it.

From: Ricardo Harris Oh, dear. /sarcasm: Their IM's are capped so don't expect any response. Ricardo - I don't understand the sarcasm. I'm just a small club owner, and affiliate reseller. But my IMs get capped nearly every single day, especially if my employees are IMing me throughout the day while I'm at work and can't get in-world and I respond to them via email. So really, it's extremely possible for big name creators to have capped IMs Notecards are just a much better way to handle these types of issues anyway. Then there's documentation via a dated notecard, and a transaction record in history.

Also, if you log IMs with time&date stamps, you get a permanent record of them (more reliably permanent than inworld assets, anyway). However, you do lose incoming IMs whenever you're what I call disconnected: where you can turn but not move, and can't get profiles or interact with scripted objects, and your minimap eventually turns pink. Notecards don't have this problem.

After seeing these figures the only logical question would be, what game are you referring to? Because it certainly isn't this one. Where did this 99.99% popup from? Out the thin air, no doubt.

Out the thin air, no doubt. Since I play I didn't had a single case when a merchant wouldn't return the cash if received more than normal. And about the number, do you feel better if I say that 100% of my cases were solved correctly without leaving you that tiny bit for randomness? If you have a case, try to write politely and explain what happened. You will get your cash back. Be a monkey and you will come to whine to the forums that the merchant is ignoring you. I'd offer you some cheese but I know for sure your avatar doesn't feel much for eating it.
