Yep, and it was the appearance of these kinds of bot rental businesses that finally convinced them it was time to do something. I don't think anyone, even on the LL side, is happy with how slowly things are moving there.

Both times you started to apologize, you ruined it by being defensive -- actually, by being mildly offensive. If you want people to take your apology seriously, skip the second part. Sure, we understand; there are always good reasons for less than perfect behavior.

Besides, the little joke about your name was just too good to pass up. SOMEONE had to say it! A little harmless fun.

Tip: never follow an apology with a defense, especially one that pushes blame back. Really. Never. Let the other side fess up to their contribution to the problem. If they're mature and being reasonable, they will. Don't just take my word for this, check it out.

The sky is falling, the bots are taking over, oh god. If you don't like the bots, LEAVE. It is really that simple. There are good uses for bots and bad uses for bots, but if you find them being used somewhere that you go and don't like it, LEAVE. I can't state it more simply, just LEAVE.

I do have to say one thing. If someone does 'rent' bots I have to give them an A+ for having a unique idea is SL (where every corner has a clothing store).

I'll admit, I was somewhat impressed by the concept of rental bots. Not going to matter much tho if the lindens follow through with their plans to have bots not count for traffic.

Bots do a lot more than add to traffic counts. There will be a market for bots and bot hosting.

I'm aware of that. And I don't have a problem with it. I said as much in an earlier post.

But this particular shop provides bots that are camoflaged so as to appear to be patrons or pole dancers, or models, and offers suggestions to "develop a strategy" to use them for increasing traffic count. It's the specific reason this shop provides bots for rent, and says as much on signs plastered all over their shop.

Ah with you, well they need to adapt, for a start they'll be reported for traffic violations themselves!
