Copy & Paste?

Hi Friends,

I'm looking for a Copy/Paste facility so that I can prepare text in a notecard and then Copy-Paste it into the chat bar. I was told I could find Copy and Paste in the edit menu at the top left of my tool bar, but there is neither Copy nor Paste in any of the menus on the toolbar. Where might I find this facility if there is such a thing?

I just use the keyboard shortcuts - highlight the text, then Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+X to cut, and Ctrl+V to paste.

Highlight the text, CTRL C

Put your cursor in the chat window, CTRL V

The only place that I'm aware of that copy and paste appear in a menu is the lsl scripting window.

You don't need anything special. Left click in the open notecard that you've written, press ctrl-a to highlight all the text. Then press ctrl-c to copy it. The in the Chat box press ctrl-v to paste it there.

/me pages Lindal

There is a HUD you can get -- a freebie even, I think -- that will read a notecard and every time you click something on the HUD, it will paste the next line into chat. Lindal uses it in her sex class that she teaches in SL.

It is a tad easier and quicker than constantly trying to hilite the correct line in your notecard and pasting it yourself

If you use Ctrl-X instead of Ctrl-C it cuts out the line you're copying so you always know the top line is the next one.

I wish you could do right-click-copy and -paste. I'm a mouse person.

It is under "edit" on the top of your viewer.

(Highlight text first, choose Copy, then left click in the next space you want to Paste it into. Choose Paste.)

Maybe they are not showing up because you haven't written and highlighted yet?

Yeah, but if I am wanting to use the same notecard over and over, I would need to verify I had a backup because I would likely hit that darn 'save' button on the notecard. Not to mention that when I am doing something like this, I will often get in a bit of a hurry and copy/cut too much text at once.

In other words, if human error is possible, I will do it.

This is only slightly related but it made me think of it. I look at people's picks all the time to find interesting places to go. However, I can not find a way to save the picks for later viewing. I often leave a profile open so that I can see the places before I log off, but then if I lose a profile, I lose the picks. I have tried making notecards and copy/paste the picks into these, but then, I have trouble finding my notecard.

Is there a way to save the picks, or to even save a profile for someone who is not a friend?

thx,
BT

That's one of the reasons why I usually have an IM open to my alt :).

If I spot something I'll just IM her and get the offline email in my Inbox and delete the emails as I catch up visiting the places I wanted to visit.

People have sex by cutting and pasting from a notecard?

Gosh, what a depressing thought, their poor partners :(

Hmm, dunno. There are a lot of pretty inarticulate people out there. Would you rather let someone whose idea of "sexy" is "Nice tits!" wing it?

Then, of course, if you're smart, you steer well away from such people in the first place . . . :(

I dont mind the "nice tits!" gambit as long as "Wow! tight ass!" follows promptly.

I try not to have a debate with my one-night stands so inarticulate is fine by me. Just a few grunts and appreciative "mmmmmms" is fine. And maybe some naughty talk at teh right moments.
Ummm, what did you say this thread was about, Scylla?

Great ideas. All this time I've been having pre-planned emotes in notepad for when I want to interact with more realistic dog RP.

/me wonders why the two legged ones stand around staring in different directions, then decides it's just silly human behavior that doesn't involve anything important like food.
It might be a lot easier with the HUD Lil speaks of, if it does entire small chunks like the one above and not just one line of text.

I'll have to experiment with that.

Hang on. We're talking "cut and paste" here, right? So, this is presumably about emoting in SL, not pillow talk in RL.

You REALLY only want your SL lovers to articulate a few "grunts" and "mmmmmms"????

I bet THOSE IMs are worth saving!! ;)

Sometimes, Weston, I have no problems understanding why you are a dog.
