I've seen enough evidence here and at slu how a place such as the forum can only help in world communities form. In both places groups who know each other only out of SL have come together in world and formed friendships and such. Plus since we are all in various time zones, and have differing acces to SL, having a GD forum to continue this is definitely a good idea.

I agree with Ceera's analysis, though I think it may have been LL's hope that with the removal of general discussion that most of the trolls would leave, and most of the chatter would die out leaving only the tightly focused forumites (<--supposition) unfortunately for that hope, people in those tightly focused groups consider this a community too, and are just as apt to desire a less formal community connection too. so people like me end up in RA being just as off topic as anyone else. As several people have noted treating RA like a GD forum has helped both the speed and completeness of providing answers in this forum (even if they fall off topic quickly afterwards). I'd hate to see that benefit lost in an effort to segregate background community chatter from the narrow focus of this particular forum.
TL;DR so I still say no, but with the hope that LL doesn't try to silence the general discussion that's occurring here already.
