I use a laptop for SL - or I did until it just stopped running SL for no apparent reason.
Anyway, the beauty of running a laptop is that when I'm on SL I'm also doing real life things. I'm cooking. I'm watching TV. I'm in a train station. I'm in the bath sometimes. Sometimes I do these things without being on SL though - I'm funny like that.
My point is that having a laptop allows me to indulge my twin passions for hot pixel grinding action and n00b baiting without having to sacrifice a normal life. Essentially, SL can be on in the background while I'm living real life (to the max!)
Do you multi-task like this? Or do you allot your self SL time and real life time separately?

Um yeah so hey where's the poll? My answer would be "yes, I multitask while in SL."

When I'm downstairs and on SL it's hooked up to my big screen so I can see it from anywhere, that and a wireless mouse and keyboard make doing RL stuff pretty easy while on SL.

What is that? Just the rotten, semen-stained underbelly that, like an iceburg of grot, makes up the bulk of Second Life underneath it's clean but paper-thin surface.

I kid you not people, I once used SL while on a treadmill at the gym. Seriously. I'm not joking. Technology rocks.

Heck no, I can barely keep up with an IM and an open chat with 3 or 4 people.
Unless you count eating, drinking and smoking, in which case I am the Multitasking MASTER!!!!!!11111

Conan, dude, if you're going to mock the ResMod in your sig, could you at least do it with better grammar?

Hey there's enough people complainging of SL issues and not being able to login without encouraging them to all start trying to run SL on secondhand laptops using cheap wireless plans

I like going on trips alone, big believer in seeing many cities and how people organise themselves. Fascinating.
Only trouble is, come the evening, the hotel is invariably miles from anywhere (hence cheap trip = often 5 star but somewhere with business custom during the week). I could go sit in the hotel restaurant or bar with people, but that doesn't appeal as my fellow single female travellers are often telling everyone who will listen about their hardcore trips to dangerous places ... and the couples are often in thier 60's and 70's and from the West Midlands.
That will only mean something to people who have ever been on a bus full of old ladies in the Birmingham area and have the scars to prove it. Shudder.
Next trip, will be in a Dutch hotel which if it has satellite will rock (Dutch TV in hotels often means a channel or two from half of Europe. including the BBC). Next trip, the lappy is going with me so I can get my Maoz from outside Amsterdam Centraal Station and get back to my hotel to discuss the things I have bought there that day *weg*.

Tarina and to a point, Void say it for me. I'm a desktop user and spending so long in SL anyway of an evening and weekend (can't log on at work - shame!) my RL replaces the gym when it drags me away from the leatherbound computer chair. I might go and make a coffee whilst in AFK mode but if I'm in-world, it's usually 100%.

/me nods in agreement and shivers at the memory of a particularly traumatic incident on a 61 involving a bag of Werther's Originals and someone's ill-fitting false teeth. Like others here, I have anough difficulty keepingup with SL when i'm concentrating 100% on it. Same for RL. So it's best for me to keep the two separate.

I run SL on a laptop and have wireless connectivity in my house but never carry it around with me. I have the laptop on the living room floor, TV usually on mute behind it listening to Virgin radio or something similar on SL. As a relative newcomer I have found myself trying to limit my SL time as it is worryingly addictive. I've started telling myself that I HAVE to log off at 8pm in the evenings, when I have to eat or I might die!! Being a self confessed house work addict though, SL never gets in the way of that!!!!
I'm like Bilbo in that I don't run SL World at work and so I have to survive 9 to 5 with the forums.
/Hi Bilbo. I've kept the hangout bar clean in your absence!! Had to borrow a sponge.
