But, but... you're still the same THERE, too :p In fact, you stand out all the more for it ;)

Well.

I suppose if it ever came to literary fisticuffs, it's only honourable to stick by Marquess de Queensberry rules of the pen, mmm?

Tis true, I've never really given in to my darker side on any forum, but I'm ready should it ever come to it!

Ah, but the successful fight in the forum is of the mind behind the pen, not the brawn behind the glove...

hm, and for that matter, brawn is overrated in my book. I have a sweet memory of my late brother taking down a drunken hulk of a man twice his size in a fight in three moves. Dexterity can trump brawn pretty easily, with a bit of martial arts training :)

It's not that I locked the thread quickly, its just that I saw the thread when it was young.

Desmond, are you sure we're on the same forum?

Seriously, though, great response.

I have been kept nice and safe from myself ever since they put me in this straight jacket!

Problem is, it is SOOOO hard to type with two fingers while twisting to reach the keyboard.

If you are interested in no-holds-barred second life discussion, I'd say secondcitizen.com is the place.

Disagreements with my attempt at a resident answer here will be met with poise, civility and respect. On secondcitizen however... let's rock. :)

I really must take issue with you on this, Desmond my man. You're quite wrong on this one, I'm afraid. The tone on Second Citizen has nothing whatsoever to do with "disagreements." I get offended by those there with whom I AGREE!

The things is it still gets pretty nasty sometimes and some have nothing better then just be rude, critical and plain nit-picky.
And there is lot that never gets "locked" because Strife is one of few active resmods and he can't see everything or be everywhere.
Truthfully some of it in past has bothered me.
I got once blocked when I was new post blocked about how I discovered prim jello by under another resmod because I hadn't had chance to ask about what are the possiblities of what one could do with prim jello aka flexibles. In same forum was even more hostile and downright vicious converstations happenping. It didn't seem fair
Especially when I had been flamed for asking because I had no clue how to use search here still really don't and half of time nothing I want comes up.
By the way, because I never got around to asking more question, especially because I was flamed for asking questions in Resident Forums I cut back and now rarely do.
I still have no clue how to control the movement of prim jello but getting better playing with it after bit. In fact I just made me a bathrobe with prim sleeves after much trial and failure.
There is a lot here to learn and forums have helped plus its nice place to go to talk about SL or whatever, lot of topics seem allowed within reason but some do get closed.
Personally I have looked at the other forums they seem dead and I just don't want to deal with figuring out another password, or remember to go there.
Now if there was easier way to go and talk to people via different forums without as much hassle I might be into but truthfully I rather build and come here when I want to talk to other residents.
Yet most forums there is bashing going and lots still here and not much is done about it because there isn't way for resmods to close all questionable threads.
Strife is usually only one.
Btw congrats on your reward Strife did you get anything good for it other then mention in LL blog?
Take care all, sleepily wonders off to bed.

I have to say I find the moderation here very mild and appropriate. It's true that a thread on sex is going to be a road to nowhere, and there are better places to discuss it. But generally, the moderation here is quite light, and it feels appropriate to me when it does happen.

This is a private forum and there is only the illusion of free speech. The moderators are allowed to delete any post regardless of the topic.

Yes - I agree it's appropriate. There is no resentment on my part for threads closing and for the moderators doing their thing. It's just human nature for conversation to wander where it will, especially if you also have the SL viewer open at the same time you are browsing the forums and are in the heat of struggling to build something or to shop for that one item you can't seem to find. One forgets this isn't really a place for general socializing. Since I started trying to build I get more socializing here than in world.

Oh wait - I'm doing it again! ;-)

That is odd I notice it a lot but it gives me no dictionary.
I thought possibly it was new function of the forums.
Thanks for answering Nina.

Botom line is everyone nowadays is so sensitive. You have people saying things because it's "politically correct" to say them although in many cases they themselves don't believe it.
Whether it be about any subject this is the way it is in society now. It's so phony this way, forums included.

Personally I don't blame LL for closing the discussion forum. Criticise them if you want, but why should they provide you the medium in which to do it?

Maybe becuase the people posting on the forums are a segment of the population that is PAYING for this big metaverse adventure.

This forum here Resident Answers is the closest thing we have to a forum where you can talk about anything. But as you know they will immediately close the thread if you do talk about other things as they act so fridgid in certain matters.

In just about any on-line game they always have a forum for discussions whether they're related to game or not. All except this one. The thing that gets me is this is an adult game played by adults. Yet, like a thread I was just reading, which dealt with sl sex they closed it right away.

Are they trying to keep us from hurting ourselves? Granted this forum is for answers but there are many different subjects like the one they just closed that deal with the reality of what goes on in sl, so why act so sensitive?

But they won't add another forum for this, if anything, they took out many of the forums that were here before. Just as they've taken out many other useful things in sl that many people benefitted from.

You just have to love these guys, they're so concern for us sl residents. And I say this from the bottom of all my sarcasm.

have you searched archives?

the answer is in there

residents had the priviledge of various off topic and general forums but because they were totally out of control and required an army to police them they were closed down.

this is what's left go search the archives and read the closed forums then you might not have had to post this thread ^^
