From: Linda Brynner You don't know Phil. I could be an old granny knitting sweaters, scarfs and socks, at least 90 years old and a women's beard But serious, that shift copy, that's really true, about the change? (a simply "yes" or "no Ma'am" would do) Yes ma'am.

From: Lear Cale Yes, it seems backwards that the old one is the one you dragged, but that's how SL is, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's technically a lot simpler that way. I've always found it very useful that the original is the one dragged.

From: Phil Deakins I always think of the one that is dragged as the new one, and the one that's left in the original spot as the old one. So we both experienced the same - we just think of them the other way round In cases where it doesn't matter, well, it doesn't matter. But SL does it the other way around. The "new" one has a new key, and its scripts all get reset. It's the one remaining, not the one dragged. The SL way is nonintuitive and confusing, but fortunately, it often doesn't matter. However, if your objects are scripted, or have sit targets that a script won't replace immediately on reset, or particles, and a few other properties I can't remember, then it can matter. When it matters, I generally shift-drag, then select the new one and move it, then select the old one and control-Z. So, the old one is where it was, and the new one is nearby. Anyway, what you're saying is that copies now get sales info copied. I'm hoping they copy all the other stuff that used to get lost in the new item. Good news and thanks for sharing.

So we both experienced the same - we just think of them the other way round I actually found out very very shortly after I learned that you could copy an item using the shift key. I was on the platform to my house and was making a copy - using shift I dragged the new one downwards and forgot about it for a few minutes as I was also engaged in IMs. Well, it so happens that I was not wearing my group tag and so in 5 minutes the new one was returned to me, which just happened to be the one that I thought was the original and the one I was standing on - crash landing.

From: Lear Cale The SL way is nonintuitive You are right about that From: Lear Cale I'm hoping they copy all the other stuff that used to get lost in the new item. I just checked with the sit target property (no script remaining), and the sit target doesn't transfer. My guess is that other prim properties also don't transfer, which is a pity but we're used to it.

LOL, just one in a series of crash landing stories. I found that shift-dragging what I'm standing on can cause me to fall through, sometimes. Common SL headlines: "Avatar plummets to death!" Now that we have skyboxes over 1K, we have even more time to enjoy our final moments.

From: Phil Deakins When you do a shift-copy of an item that's set for sale, the new copy used to keep the price and everything and the original copy needed them to be typed in again. Now both copies keep the data. I like that. WHY I'd need two exact copies of the same thing for sale is anyone's guess ... but hey.

From: Ghosty Kips WHY I'd need two exact copies of the same thing for sale is anyone's guess ... but hey. It comes in very handy for me when I add one or more texture variations of an existing item. I just copy the item and apply the new texture. For instance, yesterday someone wanted a cuddle sofa like the ones I have but in a different texture. It was done in a couple of minutes. That's when I discovered the change.
