Treasure and Spiders *shudder*
05-01-2009 07:52
My fear of spiders is, irrational, inexplicable, visceral. A phobia if I ever saw one. There's no explanation for it, I wasn't traumatized by a spider as a child. Maybe because growing up, I saw my mother exhibit the same irrational behavior regarding spiders. I honestly don't know why, but it's huge for me.

To answer others, no I don't have Pep on ignore. Because in other Forum threads, I often enjoy reading him. But 'this' trumps 'that'. I honestly cannot take this. It's not a mere dislike, disdain, distaste, it's a huge fear that will ruin my day. I honestly can't take it.

So I got the new computer put together.

AMD Phenom II Quad-Core @ 3Ghz
4 GB DDR2 RAM @ 1066
and an Nvidia GTX275

Only one slight problem...... The new motherboard has ONE IDE connector. I forgot I have TWO IDE drives, not counting the DVD/CD Drive.

Can't install too much yet till the 1 TB SATA Drive I just ordered comes in.

Oddly enough, the GTX275 seems to run COOLER than my old 8800GTS??? HEH! Excellent!!!

You have no idea what I am posting about even *when* someone quotes me.

No spider stories...but yesterday, after work I was walking to my car. (underground garage), and a bat was flitting all around.

I don't see too many bats up in these parts, so it was pretty neat. :)

Bats are kind of cool. As a kid I was terrified of them but now they are rather fascinating. We had them around our house now and then, and I enjoyed seeing them flying around at dusk. I even thought about getting some bat houses, but if I rememember correctly, turns out they you really need to upkeep them, can't just put them out like a birdhouse; so that was that :p

I never really minded spiders as long as they are not crawling on me, but I always found bats to be a bit creepy.

I have never had anyone on the forums on Ignore. Have ever only blocked one person on any chat site. And the only people I've muted inworld are the occasional spammers in groups or sometimes folks that shout in a sim I'm in - and those are almost always temp mutes.

I've never had anyone on the forums on "Ignore", either. :) Inworld, I temporarily mute people when I'm at a live music event...just to cut down on the ASCII spammers.

I agree; I'm fascinated by bats (any resident vamps around? :p). My neighborhood has lots of those bat houses, Elora. Bats are great for taking care of insects, and for pollinating flowers. :)

Almost mouse-like :p

Well now that I live in a small city, not a lot of bats flying about any longer. Pollination shall be done by the random butterfly or bee (I hope!).

Old country name over here for a bat is flittermouse. :)

I love seeing little bats flitting round the garden at dusk in summer.

Actually, as a kid I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' lakehouse and there were always bats flying around the outhouse - freaked me out for life, I think.

Thank you Brenda, I am off very soon. And I am afraid that you and the one or two others who don't have me on ignore will have to make do with considerably less of my input to the forums over the next couple of weeks as I am off on a company jaunt and my ability to post here will be at the whim of various hotels and perhaps partner systems. I am sure you will be able to survive! :p

Pep (No! I am *not* Elora and Ghosty's gnome; that is pure coincidence. ;) )

This one spent the day on our patio a 2 or 3 years ago.

This one made me go awwwwe.. I like bats. Bats are cute in fuzzy way- yes i know, but i like rodents- so there! I had posted some a bit ago but they were creepy to someone so I won't add batty pix though i have a bunch on my photobucket.

Re Ignore - yes, it has come to that - there's only so much one can do or take. Good for all of you that have stronger stomachs. I refuse to run against the wind- you will note also my departure pages and pages ago from the oh pity me thread. Some people won't be helped, fine- screw them since it is obvious they are right where they want to be and don't need my support or approval. Got enough in my own world and it is a happy place. No candidate for sainthood here and no need to be a whipping boy either. Just me, self-absorbed when it suits me and happy to be there for liek minded folks. Not that I don't need help or a shoulder from time to time. And damn lucky to find folks willing to be there for me, for whom I am always eternally grateful.

/prattle - back to your regular scheduled Threading...
