I've picked up a lot of my Mum's taste in music. I grew up listening to GnR and Iron Maiden and AC/DC etc. I've found a few of my own, but essentially, we like the same stuff.

Beautiful cat, Tod.

It is hard when we lose a pet.

Christmas my damn Betta died. I NEVER would have thought I would get attached to a stupid fish. She set here on my desk about 2 years. I got where I could tell she was hungry because she would get on the side of the little tank she was in and just stare at me. Crazy, huh?

Anyway.. sorry you lost her.

And this may sound like I am being an old lady here but i don't really need to hear the F word every other beat- yeah there was raunchy stuff in the 80's too but it wasn't as prevalent. It was a tad more subtle- said the same thing- back to A/C D/C - "took me over the chair, had me fightin' for air, told me to come but i was already there' same idea as some of these other things u hear now getting limited air play and frankly makes me blush and try to stuff up my ears- and I do know some colorful metaphors of my own so it's not like the language is unknown to me- it's the venue I suppose- just don't feel it belongs in music.

Any songs about an Amber?:p

There was a song that I really hated, but seemed to get tons of airtime.....My Neck, My Back by Khia. It was just so......
haha, ok so I was gonna say vulgar, then realised I'm turning into my grandma.....help!

I agree with this. I always did get a chuckle when AC/DC sang "We got the biggest balls of them all". :P

Seriously though.. there was something to be said for them subtly saying these things. Some songs can do it in a VERY sexy way even when going straight for the "F" word (NIN in closer) but there is something to be said for those who can say it artfully.

"show me how you do that trick, the one that makes me scream she said"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORc5Td_T6og

Sexy.. subtle.

In keeping with the 'post pics of yer cat' part of the thread, here's my 1st cat- Babbette. A total bitch who would only let ME pick her up. Anyone else lost alot of skin! I cried SO hard the day she died. :(

Funny thing is, I'm allergic to cats! I get the ever so fun asthma side of allergies! Nothing sez "love" like reducing lung function for your pet! :)

Awww. Cute kitteh, Tod! Sorry she's gone... :(

Sexy.. subtle.

A time and a place for everything- songs are poetry of sorts set to music - you just have to know when to use what sort of language. Subtly really is everything. Last night I was watching The History of Sex on Discovery Channel. They was a part about courtly love as evidenced in knight's tales - when the narrator read a certain piece you knew exactly what the author was referring to- I don't recall the wording- but it was definitely erotic and did not include any obvious genital references- I imagine if the knight was in bed with his lady fair he wd have more carnal ways of saying the same thing :)

There is a line in Shakespeare- don't even remember what work but it was about a woman and he says, "between whose forks presages snow" Plainly, she didn't want any- but see how lyrical that sounds :)

I believe it was posted over there. When Damien was coming over some.

And I had to get you out of that inbox.. if you fell into the porn attachments I would never see you again.

Actually it was a good time to send that. My Dad was sending me a ton of pictures to put on his site.. that has been my project of the day.

Really? You must miss him. Jadzia talks a lot too. She walks around the house muttering at night. In the evening while we're watching tv we hear her upstairs, then getting closer and closer, vocalizing the whole way. Then she comes in and drops a toy in front of one of us. And she thinks she has to start reminding us to feed her an hour before it's time. Her voice is pretty soft though. Frank has that loud distinctive Siamese voice, but he usually let's Jadzia do the talking.

i love the chatter-box kittehs.

My only picture of Aja on Flickr - Aja had a very loud distinctive meow. A real meow. He lived a good long live. Siamese.

Minky meows loudly all the time. She will sit by her food dish demanding food. An hour after she was feed.

the bedding Aja is laying on is fabulous! i have a real soft spot for gray tabby's, so Minka is really charming me right now. :)

/agreed. Shakespeare was about the "wooing" process mixed with veiled (and some not so veiled) references to the sexual act itself.

I am no prude at all, but some Rap music just makes me shake my head and laugh at those who call themselves "playas". They haven't got a clue and have no challenge in the chase. The chase can add more to the act. Without it they are left with just the act and nothing fulfilling. Their idea of chase is aggression. Easy to make that fly with low self-esteem involved on the other side. Give me a witty back and forth like "The Taming Of The Shrew" any day over what they are up to.

What the hell am I typing?? Dammit, Maureen.. you got me here. I blame you.
