Now here is my kind of store:

(nova) @ Filataponic

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Filataponic/13/236/37

Spend L$1000 or more in a single day and send owner a notecard and she will refund 25%. Do you know how easy it is for me to drop that kind of money on a store with cute dresses, gowns, and lingerie. She also has a few really pretty blouses and nice winter sweaters, scarves & hats. Shoe selection is pretty slim though. I'm not much of a judge on pants and casual tops, so I can't comment whether those are nice or decently priced.

I know where I'm coming soon for my next shopping spree.

I've actually started reading a real, honest to goodness non audio book the other day. It's been a while.

The President Elect just called. You can go pick up his soul anytime now.

Also, the Governor of Illinois would like an estimate.

Wow! what a great deal, Lil. :)

Two cool stories!

This past weekend, I was at Redgrave, looking at some new boots, the Icerock Booties (I got them in red). My friend Kit and I thought they'd look nice in black, with black fur...but there were none to be found, so I wrote to the designer, and asked if I could commission her to make a pair.

She responded by telling me it was a good idea, and that she'd make some in the next few days, and that she was going to give me the first pair!!! And then!!! I kid you not, SEVEN minutes later? I had the boots. She said she couldn't wait to get started. :)

Then today? I went to aluinn, where I'd read about a necklace/earrings combo: http://www.aluinn.org/?p=115. The pearls are white, with a small band of contrasting-colored pearls or gems "bound" around them. Being a fan of green, I noticed that there was not a pair with green gems, nor one with red stones. So, I wrote to the designer, and asked the same...if she had plans to do a set in green and/or red...and if not, could I commission her?

The designer happened to be online. She said she would, and that she'd IM me when they got placed in the store. So, off I went, a happy camper...thinking I'd stop by the store in a few days to see if she'd made them.

SIXTEEN minutes later? The owner sends me both the red and the green sets, saying that they were my finder's fee!

I keep trying to tell people to write to designers if they have a question. I never ever expected that the designers would send me these gratis; I only wanted to know if it was possible for them to make the item and that I'd be happy to pay for it!

by law, they now always replant.

There is area I use to drive past when I visited my family in Bellingham, Washington just before entering Chuckanut drive that this beautiful forest it is near the nature reserve by a lake.
It had the most beautiful very tall Pine trees they had been there for years ever since I was young child. Literally all of them were chopped down. Miles and miles of trees, next year they put up town homes, all looking same, ugly wood boxes on side of the hill.
I wonder how many years it will take before those same houses end up in the lake?
The forest I remember as a child in that area except in small areas are no more.
It makes me sad. Lot of them were cut down to fed the paper mills, and to put up 100,000 dollar and up homes and park their SUVs. This is still happening in my area, no one seems to care until someone dies when their house slides into the bay or lake.
I guess the profit was more important.

okay, so if the land i sold to a developer, i'm sure they are allowed to remove a certain percentage of the trees... or replace a 100% cut with a percentage of leafy trees. i suppose it can vary by state. i don't know all the stats or percentages, i just know there is "some" attempt to replace what is cut.

bummer to lose a whole forest, i agree. :(

I don't think we have enough room for all the corrupt politicians. I guess I could reopen the hole beneath the dungeon for the overflow.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Do you think that pic will suffice to explain your recent absense from the thread?

Please remember that many of those "forests" are owned and were planted by wood/paper companies like Weyerhauser. The "forests" are single species stands of trees, designed to be harvested in 30 to 40 or more years. I see nothing wrong with this. I suppose mines are bad too?

Hi Threadies, waving from my lurking corner..

Mo, i went to the store you mentioned in the Group chat tonight and bought out the place. What great bargains! I got several sweaters, some slacks and boots...

Honey, I understand from CX that you became a Princess earlier tonight. Congratulations!!

I decided to try my hand at building after seeing a house i liked that was no mod. There were some things i liked about it, but some things i wanted different, so I thought I'd try to build my own. For one thing, I wanted a skybox.

So anyway, after a couple weeks, here is my very first build!

I'll say one thing, building keeps you busy.. :p
