If it's a regular laptop wireless card, then you should be just fine connecting to a router.

Bluetooth is something entirely different. :)

I used bluetooth with old computer to connect to the router. There was a little pop-up box that told me where I could connect and if I was connected, and had buttons for "connect here" and stuff. I thought I was clicking on the bluetooth button for that.

I have a router.

Ok, so this might actually work and not be a paperweight? If so then I am happy about that.

Not happy that all I could find was how to get authorization to return the product that hasn't even been built yet, instead of any information on how to change or cancel the order. Well, there was something about a debit card/back putting an order on "hold" and how you need to quickly contact them to change that status. That had nothing to do with my wanting to "change order". And canceling order just lead to "should I just refuse delivery . . no, do not refuse delivery . . .blah blah blah".

*whimpers*

stupid need to use phones. I'm not the best at hearing anyway, even if the company still allowed us to have phones.

I haven't seen the specs on your laptop, but...you can buy wireless routers for <$50.

(I'm assuming you have the wireless router, and it's already connected to internet....)

If the card you bought doesn't work, (and it should).

There are cheap USB adapters you can just plug in to your laptop and be up and running.

Part of my confusion is that I thought I was using that Bluetooth to connect to the router. And when I was looking at computers, one of the ones I looked at had Bluetooth checked. I unchecked it to remove $20 dollars from the price. A pop-up came up noting that I had not selected a wireless connection. And it had a wireless card (in a different section of the order form there was a card checked), just didn't have bluetooth or anything else in that box checked. Odd that there was that popup for that one computer but not for any of the others.

Bluetooth is a different kind of wireless communication from the networking that your computer does with a wireless router that connects you to the internet. If you have ordered a computer with a wireless networking card but no Bluetooth you should be OK to connect to the internet.
