LOL! Back in culinary school, we had a grumpy old German guy as our Soups and Stocks professor. He always carried a red marker with him, and if someone asked a stupid question (i.e. hadn't been paying attention) the professor would put a big red 'X' on the person's forehead. I paid a lot of attention in that class.

Awesome - my 1L Property professor threw dry board markers and erasers at people when he got angry. He'd slam his hand on people's desks and steal their pens right out of their hands to take notes on his sleeve. He would sweat through two layers of shirt each class and wave his arms and scream like a madman. He would also write two different scenarios on the board at once with a pen in each hand, while screaming questions over his shoulder. Just pure insanity. He used to regularly make students cry, more out of confusion than as a result of abuse. I remember it now with a sort of fondness, but at the time I was scared out of my wits.

My notes in that class were a disaster, but I learned more from him than any other professor I ever had, and two years after I graduated, they made him Dean.

Crazy.

My electro-magnetic physics teacher was like that! Every single girl in the class was madly in love with him (all 2 of us.) But you're right, that was the best class I ever took.

We were still rubbing cats with amber and being amazed at the static electricity, but yes, yes we did. :p

You're making way too much of this age thing. If you do it with your friend, it will probably embarrass him. Just take him as he is, and let the years go.

This isn't meant as a snipe, but I have to agree with Lindal here. I don't think you mean it this way because you keep saying how much you enjoy H., but it's "almost" starting to sound like you take jabs at him due to his RL age.

Oh man - nobody was in love with my property professor. 300 pounds, Einstein hair, big scruffy beard, soaked in sweat, hollering and waving his arms like a crazy person. Not exactly Brad Pitt (or whomever the Hollywood hunk of the moment is).

But, the guy was an absolute genius and knew more about property law than anyone I have ever met by a factor of about 10,000x. Once you managed to translate his lectures into English from his native high-decibel gibberish, there was some pretty impressive stuff in there.

I actually was sort of fond of him. He was an abusive maniac, but once you got past that, it was kind of entertaining. If nothing else, he didn't hide who he was - you always knew what to expect, like it or not.

Wow, did we have the same professor?

Now I'm jealous!

I just had this one Spanish teacher in high school who had a spray bottle of water and if anyone fell asleep in class she spritzed them with water.

Probably considered "abuse" now in public schools. :/

Possibly - IM me with his name and where you went to school. If it was the same school you probably had him at one point or another - he was an icon there.

Edit: And no fair taking my rating and messing with the words, lol.

I didn't want to double post or I would have mentioned that mine was not 300 pounds. Had funny hair, sweated a lot and . . . .but not 300 pounds. He was overweight but not 300 pounds.

Do we really need 400 age-related threads?

It interests some of us but if you aren't interested why tell us you arent?

Thanks to those of you who took the time to answer my questions. I wish all older players well and hope that they find partners in sl who care for them.
Time to dream ...

I am not asking the question for advice on my relationship. I am writing this question to ascertain opinions from older players - snipe away BUT my questions are clearly posed and some people have answered them as they were intended.

And yet if you read your original questions, you're clearly asking for opinion on matters that 'concern' you. That sounds like asking for advice to me. Which you are clearly allowed to do:)

This is why I am starting to think the forum is losing its usefulness - a small group of people feel that they MUST express a censorship of questions posed and soon we end up with a few people who basically "push" others off the thread. Are they called "trolls" in some quarters?
Sorry if you dont like my attitude here BUT I was genuinely interested in the question I posed and did not expect to be told to be quiet coz I was boring you.

It was not my intention to derail your thread. My initial comment was more an expression of surprise that the forum was suddenly full of age-related threads, and not just yours.
Carry on. I'll bugger off now:)
