You can talk all day long about 'friend' or 'acquaintance'. But in the end there will always be a minor or even bigger dispute that will harm that socalled friendship. In other words: you can trust no one. I recently bought/rented half a sim from someone I thought I could trust. Well, my eyes got opened very quickly. When you rent/buy land from someone else, you are NEVER safe. There is no such thing as 'reliable'. This may sound pretty cynical, but it's the truth.

Isn't that a convenience store?

HA! Um.... no?

26k for 6144 waterfront? Hmm it's good price even if it isn't because standard price right now for regular land is about L$8 to 7 a meter right now. I just paid 9850 for 1024m2 twice for 2048 which was about 20700L.

It is a lovely price.

I don't get this. Are you talking about buying land that you won't own outright?

And is the land you're selling on a private sim, so anyone who 'buys' it can still be evicted at the owner's whim?

I'm talking about buying the same size lot on a sim that a friend has just purchased. So, judging from the responses in this thread, yes we can still be evicted. As for the land I'm selling, it's on a sim owned by SB Holdings, they have a lot of land and are very reputable. I heart them. I wouldn't worry about being evicted.

I wouldn't by land that is I don't own outright personally but that just personal preference.
There are dishonest people out there in fleshy and pixel realms but I have been pretty lucky with my friends but they don't charge me. Here is hoping OP is just as lucky.

OT question here (sorry!):

Say you own land on the Mainland with a friend who is co-owner of a group, and the land is deeded to group. As Oki said, you can't kick out other group owners; they have to leave on their own.

Say you and co-owner have a falling out.

Could you then

a) create an alt
b) create a group and invite the alt as member
c) set the land to sale to the alt for L$0
d) as the alt, buy the land and deed to new group. (That way, nasty co-owner won't get part of the sale price, coz it's only L$0?)

It's a roundabout way of getting rid of a nasty co-owner, but am I missing a hoop to jump through here? Just out of curiosity?

is the land you own mainland or estate? Circular Ki sounds like an estate to me which means you are actually not selling land, you are transferring a rental parcel.

Tricky area to tread. Unless he groups the land and makes you an owner....but there again.... he can still take you out of the group at any time. So....it's really a matter of how well you know & trust this person. I would never ever partner on a sim with anyone except maybe family. I'd love to own my own sim....but until I can do it myself with no help.... I wouldn't even consider taking a gamble like that. It's bad enough I have 3 parcels of land on a private sim now LOL

If he makes you an owner of the group, he CANNOT eject you from the group.

He can however take the land back into his own ownership or assign it to another group.

Of course none of us really owns land (even estate owners)

Mainland owners and Estate owners have Linden Labs as their landlord. However LL's attitude is do what you want as long as it doesn't break the TOS.

I meant I would be reluctant to rent from anyone other the directly from LL
Only exception I might make is supporting a friend's community that I trusted and knew well or if I just had L burning a whole in my pocket and wanted to live in one of communities like Inc, Ged, Desmond or Steve runs

I guess it would be estate land as it's an island, not mainland. It's owned along with a gazillion other sims by SB Holdings. They are fantastic. We can sell our lots but you would be paying tier to them.
