From: someone [Emerald] Version 1101 is out! Posted by: lordgreggreg on Dec 02, 2009 Tagged in: Untagged lordgreggreg The latest and greatest version of Emerald is now out. Please be sure you update at your closest convenience, a couple serious bugs have been addressed. Please keep in mind that the site will be under very heavy load during this time. Be patent, and refresh the page if it does not show up at first. Also, you may notice that their are no longer voice packs for these downloads. This is because they are no longer needed (YAY!) The windows installer will automatically download and copy over the extra files you need from Linden Lab's server. Publicly for the first time, we have a stable release of the Emerald viewer combined with the texture downloading changes from Snowglobe! If you got the time, check out that section of the downloads for one of the fastest Emerald viewers yet! Linux Version Coming Soon. Mac Voice Downloader Coming Soon. (do it manually like this until then http://tr.im/GrdM) from http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_myblog&Itemid=23The changelog is at http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_myblog&show=emerald-version-1101-is-out.html&Itemid=1 . I t I think the changelog is too big to paste here.

Interesting. That said, it's kinda annoying that the client notifies me that I'm using an out of date version of Emerald, even though the one I'm using is actually the most recent Linux client available... They should fix that so that Linux users don't waste their time going to the website, only to find that the newest update isn't available to them yet.

*sniff* The 1101 release makes me feel all nostalgic, it's been ages since LL rolled out anything that buggy.

Already updated mine. Haven't seem much difference, but with things acting up on LL's end, it'd be kinda hard to.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Might as well elaborate. alt-zoom is borked, the boob thing is frightening people with jerky movements, Avast is reporting trojans in one of the Windows builds, OS X Universal build isn't universal, lots of crashies and AO failures.

Hmm. Looks like I'll be sticking with the 673 build a while longer.
*Glances at Snowglobe* Woot! I never noticed, it has a 'worn' tab now!
Thanks for the heads up!

Nice pic, Damanios !
V's list is so bad it's funny. Too bad I've already installed it.
Oh well, Snowglobe doesn't work right either, at least the fairly recent testbuild version that I have doesn't.
For that matter, the Hippo viewer crashes Firefox when I start the Hippo viewer.

Due to problems in the installer breaking peoples ability to use voice, the windows installers have been temporarily taken down, they will most likely be replaced tomorrow. In the meantime, you can use the voice pack , if you still have one, to repair voice until we put up a replacement. I don't care about voice anyway, at least not for the short run. I've done alt-zoom a few times with no problem, what is borky about it? I did just notice that if I'm flying along, and Alt-zoom as fast as I can, so I'm still coasting, when I do the Alt-zoom I come to a dead stop, which I don't recall noticing before. It would be nice if the coasting would continue as normal despite the alt-zoom, there's no reason the magic camera effect of alt-zoom should make inertia stop working as well.

Thanks for the heads up! Sigh. Stupid LL. I wish they would incorporate it into the regular viewer already.

I'm still using Snowglobe about 90% of the time because of texture loading and Emerald does not play well with scuptlies on my machine. I have played with the LOD settings and can't get sculpties to rez correctly.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville ?? When you alt-click on something, the avatar normally stays focused on that. In 1101 the avatar has a short attention span and looks away.

Downloaded it last night , Seems fine for me , with the amount of different system specs and configurations out there , its not surprising there are some problems , I have Avast as well and it didnt complain about a trojan for me.

1101 is up again for download.
I don't see anything in the changelog that fixes the problem with photos often taking only part of the actual screen view, particularly for non-square windows. Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet? .

Downloaded this turkey last night. Animation is totally borked whether using a Vista HUD or the viewer's built in AO. Never had that problem before. The first sign of trouble was when my body folded in half when I tried to walk. Then things settled down to just being convulsive. That plus a crash convinced me to reinstall the previous version, which solved my problems.
I know they can't test every config, but I have an iMac that's only a year and a half old running up-to-date system software. Putting out software before it's been properly tested is a good way to chase customers into the arms of your competitor.

I tried it for about two hours this afternoon.
I noticed a very quick animation glitch which fixed itself immediately when I sat down. Otherwise it seem exactly the same as the previous version (except I didn't crash with the new one).
Avast had a bad update. It's finding trojans in all sorts of apps right now. I wouldn't blame Emerald for that.
So far it seems as good if not better. *shrug*

Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet? . I want the photo thing fixed I am so tired of the borders I built that outline the photo zone. I want to see the whole screen again, and take pictures of the whole screen again. (while still using my favorite photo taking method ctrl`)

I just checked their support forums and supposedly the issue is fixed with the latest update so if you are still experiencing this problem I highly recommend you update your Avast version. It has one thing that is sheer awesomeness for me - a simple button in the lower right corner that gives access to a lot of render settings that influence performance heavily. Notice the "max avatars" slider? Oh my! Have to try that out! And the dropdown menu that is at the bottom of the menu lets you access ALL installed lighting presets on the fly. How awesome is that for photography???

Notice the "max avatars" slider? Oh my! Have to try that out! That tab was there in the previous version too. The only change I've noticed is that the shadows tickbox under the Emerald preferences > effects tab now works, but I need to set my graphics to Ultra to use it. Once it's turned on I can dial back down to High and get tolerable fps. Purdy!
