Astrology in SL

I keep hearing that your SL "sign" is based on your rez date. I have trouble believing that because:

1)That would mean that 3/4 of all AVs were born under Scorpio, which is not true.

2)I doubt that any credible RL astrologer would agree that how you act in SL is based on rez date. People in RL are what the were born, even if they fight in a war, survive a concentration camp, or other huge events. So how can trying an online "game" change who you are. I will never believe that.

Don't just tell me that's how it is. Give me some logical reason.

If you don't believe in astrology at all, that's fine. I do.

Why would it mean that, and how do you know it's not true?


I must have missed something. I didn't think there was a connection between logical reasoning and astrology.

Halloween is a perfect time to bring this up because SL is the ultimate Halloween costume. What I mean is we don our masks and can become what ever we desire here in SL. And peeking through our masks we see not the true nature of others but what ever persona they choose. The shy can become outgoing. The lowly can be kings.
So pinning down whether one is a Virgo or Scorpio, Leo or Libra would not seem apparent. I’m a cusp by the way (Gemini / Cancer) so I’m an astrological mess.
Having said that, I do believe there is magic in SL and fate. Guided by the stars and planets? God? Who knows. But DaQbet always feels like there is someone behind him. Watching. Guiding his every move.

As an exercise...

Your RL character *chose* that date on which to create the avatar.

Then
The avatar went through a unique experience in "the first hour" or so.
The mix of characters and number of other new avatars around in OI and HI would be unique. They would also have chosen that date and time.
Lag would have been at whatever state.
Differeing numbers of prim butterflies could have been flapping their wings in the SL forests.
etc.

I slaughtered a chicken and read it's entrails. The signs say astrology is bunk.

Thinking back nearly three years ago I think I allowed myself time to try out SL as a kind of birthday present (though I don't really do birthdays). So that makes me an Aries in both RL and SL.

Aires are supposed to be very stubborn, and strong willed. That's clearly a bunch of hooey and no one will ever convince me otherwise. End of discussion.

You are right there is no logical reason. Same goes for RL astrology, in my opinion.

It was for me. That's why I was a history major.

I don't get this part. I looked through my contacts lists and the rez dates seemed evenly spready out over the year.

No, but it is too dangerous. If you are honest and look at nature vs nurture, you be called a racist. If you rely soley upon nurture, but question the validity of some cultures, you are called a racist. So studying astrology is safer.

I was rezzed under the sign of the watermelon weasel with the torus in ascendant. I am eccentric, volatile, obsessive, and have a bad habit of nibbling people's toes.

If the rez date thing has any merit then apparently I'm in that group too. Though it's pretty scary, that description is exactly me and matches me being a RL Scorpio as well.

Astrology has just as much relevance in sl as in rl.
