I get this strange IM from a girl who was on the other side of the store from me.
“Can I bother you for a bite?”
A blue prompt dropped down asking if they could animate my AV.

I was leery, said “sorry” and ran out, then started thinking is this like a Vampire game and they get points?

Nope. Had the same thing happen at a club one night. Ain't happening.

I'd have to see their teeth first. Hygiene, all that.

I think there's a vamp group that's having some sort of "scavenger hunt" style event. I've had quite a few requests lately and NCI has had to put up "No Bite Requests" signs up. (^,,^)

Awww, and here I thought I just looked really tasty. I've had the same bite request window come up on my screen about 5 times the past 2 weeks when I was out shopping. I always decline it.

Yeah, its bloodlines maybe. Its a rp kind of. you bite someone and you can get blood if they havent been bitten or are a bloodline vampire.

I had a woman ask to bite me and I said yes if it caused no permanent damage and I wouldn't turn into a vampire. She tried, but was unable to sink her teeth into me. I suspect she wanted to test out a script since all this took place in a sandbox.

Speaking as a vampire in SL, I would say she was about as subtle as a brick. I often seduce prey but by the time I am taking the blood, I have ensured that they are more than willing. However the difference here is I roleplay taking my food and try to make it as sexy and rewarding as possible. My former victims will atest to this.

Going up to someone in a public area and using a bite anim is quite lame compared to a well crafted narrative in a carefulyl chosen private spot, in my opinion.
I don't play the Bloodlines game as it seems really crafted to force you to buy blood continually if you cannot find new victims. I don't think it is necessarily a bad business model but it is not one I wish to subscribe to personally.

At least they asked, rather than just leaping onto you and having their way... I'll stop that line of thought.

Given the number of blood related diseases, I'd ask to see a cert of health from my personal doctor. And an impression of their teeth molded, so I can check the bite marks against it.

It depends on the mythos you subscribe to as a vamp but it is mostly recgonised that biting alone is not enough to turn someone. It is the repeated draining to near death and then refilling the victim with vampiric blood that turns them, the more times this cycle is repeated the more strength and powers the vampire will have comparative to the makers age, strength and powers.

Lol, this is true, oh and it is highly unlikely that humans contract disease from a vampire. It is almost unheard of for vamps to suffer or carry disease at all except in very rare circumstances.

It does depend on the mythos/game system you are using for the diseases But hey, can't ever be paranoid enough about these things

True, most vamps I encounter in SL do not have or carry disease though. Only one you really encounter is the turning-by-bite disease.

BTW In bloodlines, biting is not enough to turn, you have to have died from bloodloss (I seem to remember anyways from the reading).

I've always been of the opinion that it's polite to at least engage in some RP (with consent, of course, which can be asked OOC if needs be) before animating someone, but p'raps I'm just old fashioned.

Mind you, I've also never bitten anyone I didn't know really well. Being a shy vampire has a lot of drawbacks, as it turns out. ^^

I was at a party and a very polite vamp asked to bite me- she did- neither of us were harmed by it and she is better for it- but!!! I said - you know... I know this vamp girl and she practically cybered the blood from me so much better when there is an actual RP involved in the RP...
