The title pretty much says it all--my RL husband was finally bitten by the SL bug, so we've got a little house (and by "little" I mean "absurdly large" but that's another thread topic entirely) and a few friends, mostly also RL couples... but I'm wondering what sorts of things there might be for RL couples to do in SL?
Mostly we shop, go to clubs, look at occasional builds like the Rezzable spots, theme parks... my husband tends toward grittier urban and goth environs; I'm more one for quirky humor and silly sight gags, myself (I loves me some Greenie's, yes I do)...
Any other couples have any tips or locations to recommend? I know this topic's been approached before in other threads, but the landscape's changed a good bit since then... erm. If it's considered too redundant, though, kindly ignore... ^^;;

Congratulations, Jo! I wish my Resident Geek would fall for SL. I could introduce him to poseballs...and call me a deviant, but I tingle all over at the thought of using pixel sex as foreplay...
Ahem.
Clubs, live events, dancing...they're all good. Running a family business is a good way to do something together, too.
Exploring as a couple is great fun. You can point stuff out to each other, marvel at beautiful builds together, take pix for the family album...it's a lot more fun than exploring on your own.

Go to live concerts. They are absolutely wonderful. Also there are sporting events, I attend hockey, boxing, soccer just among the few. They have the ballet here. You can find all of this in search. Click live events tab and make your selection. Also, I believe there are groups that one can join just for couples and that will also give you more to do. I am presently single in the game now but when I was married in the game, thats what me the ex used to do. Have fun

I've tried Event searches, but the results were less than promising... well, maybe now that we're past the start of summer, there might be more there. Thanks for the suggestions! ^^

Go horseback riding!
You can get demo horses good for 5 rides at AKK ranch, and I know there are other demos available and other venues for riding. At Carnivale Royale, the management has just put in loaner horses as well - feel free to drop by and check 'em out. My RL husband and I went riding at AKK a while ago and liked it so much I have a pic of the two of us riding as our land group picture.
Go exploring! All the cool things to see are even cooler when they're shared - Inspire Space park is not to be missed, and Svarga and Greenies and... Last night my alt typed "Carnival" into the Places Search and had a blast - rode the rides, went to the circus, did all kinds of stuff that would have been more fun with two.
And of course there's the usual standby of dancing, which can be a great way to get out and meet people and can be even more fun if you take the time to find out-of-the-ordinary musical eras and dress up for them.
'Kay, that's my two cents' worth.

'Kay, that's my two cents' worth. I'm not so sure about horseback riding, for us (I have an aversion to 'em due to a childhood incident with a party pony and... well, anyways...) Inspire Space Park's on my to-see list with him, I've never been to Svarga, but Greenies was one of the first places we went to see... I love the theme-dance idea, though--that's extremely cool and I definitely would like to try that. Also, I've heard there are dances/clubs for tinies? Not sure he'd be up for that, but it would certainly tickle me, if I can find one... ^^

Check out the Salsas y Boleros ballroom in Apollo Gardens for some romantic ballroom dancing in a beautiful setting.
There's also a place called Selene Castle which has another romantic ballroom.
Or maybe you'd like to have a romantic dinner on the Titanic? (Don't worry it won't sink this time).
Explore the Straylight Forest.

Explore the Straylight Forest. Yesss! I've been wanting an excuse to do the ballroom dancing thing, actually--never really done it, and there's only so many clubs I think I can stand... And Straylight is added to the list, now, too. Getting really good suggestions, here. I'd seen a couple of "meaning of life," general philosophical discussion groups listed in Events and mentioned by friends, but so far I haven't attended any...

We bought a house...run a business...and in our spare time, we ignore the kids sitting in the next room and have pixel sex. It's a great way to get warmed up. My only complaint is that he wants me to dress like a Puerto Rican hooker--and I'm a WASP with a pasty complexion and long sleeves. We're talking major culture shock. So anyway...come on over some night...have a drink. And try to avoid the cleavage.

I don't know you well enough to comment on your aversion of course. But you just made me wonder if SL might be a good place for people with phobias to start desensitizing themselves vis-à-vis their fears. Like play with SL spiders until they don't seem so scary in real life any more.

There's a Giant Snail Race on Saturday, June 21st at 2pm. These are amazing and fun to watch. You can also learn how to drive/steer one yourself.
You both could check out Amour Amusement Park, I love the bumper cars and mini-race car track.
One of my favorite activities is to put on my Skoopf skates and take a leisurely jaunt around. There are lots of open roads on the Bay City sims. I've also skated around True North Designs in Goun. There is a beach, nature park and paths around the shopping areas too. I enjoy skating around Barefoot Designs in Snafu since there are many paths to the different levels. You can go up to the Visitor Center, go over to the Greenhouse, back down to the Big Red store, and skate below to the main store. You still have the lower section to skate down to and take a rest by the water.
Have fun you two, lol.

Wonderful Evenings
06-21-2008 01:33
There is a group called Wonderful Evenings which has an associated set of notecards that you can buy (for about L$15 or so each) with reviews and recommendations of things to do in SL as a couple, under various categories.
It isn't my group, but seems popular. I have a Vendor (for the notecards) in my store - see my sig for a SLURL.
HTH.

With the speedy rate at which sites and landmarks in SL change, or move to different locations, or disappear altogether, who on earth would pay for notecards that have landmarks likely to be obsolete after 3 months?

Since he got in world, my husband's discovered his inner ubergoth, so I kinda dress to match, which is quite funny when we hit the theme parks or something... Otoh, his discovery of penis shopping is now a treasured memory. From: Kaimi Kyomoon I don't know you well enough to comment on your aversion of course. Oh, I was being somewhat silly with that one, but I think you're definitely onto something, there--it's only RL horses that I'm nervous of. SL ones can't trample me. I'm not tackling the clown-fear, though... even here...

Wait - there's soccer and boxing in SL? How on earth do they DO that? Is the soccer ball physical? Are there different pose balls scattered around the field? Argh for being on a lappy with no SL!
