What is with all the pie?

I keep seeing references to "pie" in the forums. I assume this is some kind of inside joke that I am not familiar with. What is with all the "pie" references? Can someone share the history of this with the rest of us?

It's more a general internet forums thing. Google on this: forums "i like pie" -- you will see that it is not just an inside joke here, but is spread throughout the snark-o-sphere.

And just to be clear, you do like pie, right? RIGHT?!!! :eek:

It's most commonly used as internetese for "let's change the subject" or things to that effect.

I don't know if it started with Patrick from Spongebob or if he just made it famous. Either way, I've seen it used on a plethora of forums.

It depends on the forum. I know a few I post in resemble circus' and others are quite flighty.
You prefer cake? Troublemaker.
