I would love to have a help kit to pass out to the newbies that I run across, witch anymore is 80% of the Avatars I run into.

Just thought of this last night...do you think there should be a note warning about some of the nastier scams? I'm thinking especially of the "object with debit permissions" thing.

Or is there one in there and I missed it? There's so MUCH in this kit!

Thank you!! What a great collection of stuff for new people. I wish I had this when I first came into SL. I handed a couple of them out last night - the first one to a guy who rezzed in and the first thing he said was, "Where do I get quests?".

It took a little doing to get him straightened out, but handing him the folder helped a LOT. I think he still thinks I'm a NPC, though.

LOL! What a terrible temptation it must've been not to just tell him, "Seek ye out the Holy Grail, noble sir." I applaud your self-control!

I get a lot of newbies because of my morning show being broadcast on iTunes and on 30+ affiliates outside of SL. I encourage my listeners to teleport directly to my broaddcast location as soon as they rez and then either myself or my SL listeners help them get started.

A kit like this would be perfect to give them the minute they arrive. If I could have both the boxed and the folder kit that would be really nice.

There are two versions of the New SL Resident Kit:
(1) A boxed version which is perfect for leaving in your shop or somewhere so that anyone can click and receive the contents. Please only use this version in the aforementioned scenarios.
(2) A folder version (split into 2 folders). If you are handing out the New SL Resident Kit directly to someone or via their profile, please use this version. Each folder contains everything unpacked and ready to use. It's also the easiest for new residents to digest.

I've also included an update checker (an item named "Rez me (drag to ground) to check for updates". Rez this on the ground any time to check for updates to the kit. If nothing happens, you have the latest version. Otherwise, you'll receive the latest as soon as you rez the object.

Please also pass the boxed and folder versions on to any other educators, mentors and helpers so that they might use it as well.

Again, if you have any questions, comments, tips, notecards etc. let me know.

And finally, it was suggested that this kit be available in other languages. If anyone has any resources and knows of anyone who is at least bilingual (English plus another language) and wishes to donate some time to the task, please have them contact me for the translation project aspect of this kit.
