I figured I'd also mention that, they have positive uses in things like AOs so long as you have the deformer and the undeformer animations  For special avatar you can run the deformer and then run your own set of custom animations that offset the irregular joint rotations. Then, when the AO is detached, run the undeformer.

I can see both sides of the love/hate over deformers. I haven't come across one yet (I'm very new) but I would find it extremely disconcerting if I became an unknowing victim of one as a newbie - before reading this thread. At least a relog fixes the problem.
But does it always?

Not the only one, by the way, i made a detector object with an undeformer kit in it and placed it in our mentors favorite sandbox. Basically, it's get a list of objects within a 96 m range, cross references them with the known creator name, and sets a red floating text if it finds him in the list. Updates the list every 30 seconds. On touch it gives you the undeformer kit. |

I love clicking random things! It's much more fun to cage/kill/destroy myself.. kinda like when you play an MMO that has PvP and you kill-steal yourself!
To be honest, when I first ran across a deformer, I thought SL was acting up. I mean, between Ruth, the attachments up the butt and all, how could you NOT think it was SL acting up? I snickered at it and relogged. WHen I logged back in, I clicked the thing again to see!
