Except for the times when you leave to wander around naked in public areas.

Well, yes, that of course. A girl has to do SOMEthing for amusement when the Gods are tearing her universe down around her ears.

Lots of recently abandoned parcels have not turned purple yet. Two next to a parcel that I have in Heterocera abandoned this week. Both owned for 2+ years. Another big parcel up for sale for the past month there as well. It also has a long time owner. May be a trend among the older premium members developing. Cashing out and moving on.

And they have finally got the auction opening bids down to match inworld sales. The majority of the US$ plots on auction now are for roughly L$1.5-1.7 sqm

And not so recent, a parcel next to one of mine has been abandoned since November.

And even once they finally turn purple, some seem to take forever to actually get to the auction block.

Ever watch the Titanic Movie? Which ones of you are the ones hanging on to that railing?

I just realized that ad space can now be bought for 1.6 /M haha and the 900L per 512's are starting to pile up..

Lets ad more land quick so we can get a few more CC numbers on file ..

FWIW:

Tonight I bought a clean, green, more-or-less flat 16x32 512 with a few homes around it but no banlines or ugly walls/screens. I paid 1.4$L/m.

The next price level up in the search was 1.7$L/m. At that price there were several to choose from.

There's loads of yellow land all around me and I'd snap it all up if the tier weren't so crippling. For reasons I won't go into here I am unable to put in money from 'outside'. I used to fund all my activities in SL from my business activities: making & selling treehouses and prefabs as well as earning from my live music shows. But that's all collapsed this year. Hardly sold a thing in the last 6 months and hardly a single L$ in tips or payment for my shows. I suspect that all my stuff has been copybotted :( As for the lack of earnings from my music ... well the world of music has always been a rather fickle and shallow place.

Yeah, I know, suck it up, blah, blah, blah. But it really irks me seeing all that land going to waste when I know what I could build up on it. The current trend in land prices only backs up my old assertion that LL could give away the land for free and there would still be no takers because the tier costs are so high.

Good job snagging a nice parcel for that little. The fact that you got land at 1.4$L/m means the bot runners have either turned their bots off or are setting them to buy at next to nothing. Interesting times...

For those of you who have some spare tier and are of an community bent, it's now time to start doing the Lindens a favour and buying up the cheapest land you can and then abandon it back to them.

It's a community service. LL can have the dross back, the owners are relieved of tier and there'll be better quality left.

just a thought.

That is almost worth going back to premium for.

That has to be the most brilliant idea ever! What you really need to do is carve it up into random pieces just around 128 M or under to really give them the message...

A Mainland 512 plot for sale for $880 (L$1.7 per square meter), just sitting there at the top of search.

Usually, only landbots get to feast their eyes on prices that low.

Great job crashing the Mainland market, LL!

Yep. After buying my 512 parcel last week, I've spent the last week watching bots come in and buy parcels around me all week long.

They would buy it, then the human team would show up a few hours later to look at what was bought, while they didn't say anything you could almost the 'oh crap' written on their faces...
- Because it was the same parcel they'd bought three times already that day...

They would -lower- the price, and I'd see somebody else's both get it. And repeat...

After a few of those, one of them raises the price. And it sits for a day, then they come in and lower it, and the bots are back...

I think one parcel flipped between the same three land dealers a good 10+ times before they managed to shake it off of their bots.

I suspect some of them are now just turning off their bots.

The funny thing is...

This is mature land on a near empty sim alongside a protected green road. Existing builders there are either in the sky, or have nature themes along the road. So its a nice looking area. There is one spam board along the road at one point - on a parcel that sold in 2007... Its a non-aggressive board. No glow or spin, and the adds are mostly tame and professional. The board could get away with being on PG land or next to a Linden office. I still think its ugly, but for an ad-board, its tame.

But protected road and nice view. and nothing sells to actual builders...

Pussycat I can't help but smile at that one.

How many times have people gone to see a parcel a bot had just gotten, and raised the price sky high on, and had that same "oh crap" moment? I'd wager tons and tons of times.

Reap, sow, and all that.

I almost want to put up a lawn chair and a BBQ, and invite my neighbors to come watch the bots hurt their own masters... :)

Its a mild form of entertainment... but I spent the week seeing them land flip all around me, and they maybe made a 100L out of the whole process, but a lot of man hours as the human team always has to come in and evaluate the bot purchases at some point. And I think only the lucky ones got out with a profit that 'big'... :D

I've been trying to talk all my friends who rent to buy on mainland. Right now is such a great time to do it. The SL Real Estate market is mirroring the real world one - its hit the bottom, and now is -THE TIME- to get in.
- Tier prices though prevent really getting in big, but everyone who's at least PioF can probably justify going premium.

LL gives me 1800L a month for my premium, for which I pay about 7.50 I think. To buy 1800L from their buy linden's page would cost me I think 6.95 or so...
- Meaning I pay 55 cents a month for the privilege of owning land. Probably cheaper than renting on an estate.

Plus the buy in fee - buying your first parcel. Which is dirt cheap right now - if you divide it across the cost of renting from an estate owner or skybox renter... it will -probably- pay for itself fairly quickly at present.
