A Mainland 512 plot for sale for $880 (L$1.7 per square meter), just sitting there at the top of search.

Usually, only landbots get to feast their eyes on prices that low.

Great job crashing the Mainland market, LL!

Fabulous! At that rate my 4096 wont even bring $7000L. My memory is a bit foggy but I think I paid more than for it. :(

If you don't price your land to show up on the first page of search, be prepared to sit on it for a while.

In the meantime, LL appreciates your tier payments.

I dumped a 1/3 of a sim over a week ago for 2l/sqm even then it was priced too high for the bots and I had to wait for a flipper. The flipper who bought it carved it up and i was over there this evening and not one of the plots has been sold as far as I could see.

The one thing I do know though is the more that people go "we're doomed" the more chance we are of being doomed.

Whilst LL policies have certainly greatly contributed to this through the 1400 homesteads suddenly brought online along with the pressures to dump the land if you've gone to zindra, there's enough people talking down the market to also be influencing it - particularly in the slow summer months and with the economic conditions we have.

I'll be more impressed if you were looking at premium subscriptions myself or even the number of estates. If either of those are reducing then that means people are pulling the plug rather than economising or speculating - which is a far greater danger.

The entire Mosquito sim south of me went up for sale sometime in the last few days at L$180,000 or around L$2.75/sqm, and was bought promptly by an adjacent region landowner. So, land is still selling above L$2/sqm, but not too much above (despite LL's claims of L$5-6/sqm).

I think the L$5-6 is some sort of average because the prime locations (water-side, etc) are still selling at l$8-12/sqm. I keep watching some of those, waiting for them to drop more.

Same here, been keeping an eye on coastal areas for weeks now and the prices are only dropping slowly. In fact the premium areas (protected real ocean front with beach and water) are going for ridiculous prices still (ie. in excess of L$15/sqm).

Yeah, it is a GREAT time to buy..

..assuming that the virtual land market doesn't continue to slide into sub-L$1 territory.

LL seems hell-bent on setting new record lows.

There is a 4096 by me that wants $200L/sq m. I am not kidding. He said minimum he would take is what he paid ages (years?) ago, $100L/sq m. I mean....

/me sighs.

I wish there were some sort of group for NON flippers, who want to add something to SL aside from more rentals or sheer profit motivations for themselves, to hear about good land at good prices. Land people basically want to dump to save tier. Instead either bots get it or it sits, or people ask outrageous prices (not even beachfront etc.)

It just seems a bit schizophrenic, like the real land market still is also (all these foreclosures and a 60 yr old 1200 sq ft house is still 600k, why?)

Sat there this morning watching a bot that was on some land we got... Sat there for about 1/2 hour. she was a cloud and named Annie. Friend asked how do you know it was a bot I said click her (she was a ghosty) and read what comes up. Well I had to go to work fully expecting the bot or the land people to have bought the land in front of us but must have been too much for them.

Dont know how the bots work but it was interesting to say the least.

she just sat there or well hovered dont know which lol since we couldnt see her doing anything. Did say hello once then realized hehe it was a bot.

I've seen people just standing on land or hovering above it before too.

Why do they do that, and what is a land bot? How do those work?

I don't get 'bots' anyway because doesn't every av have to have a person behind it at some point? What do they do, open 10 copies of SL and just leave it running? What a waste of nuclear fission.

While is has come down somewhat, land in Bay City remains expensive, as does Nova Albion. Shermerville/Blumfield/West Haven land prices have not budged and remain abnormally high. I suspect that Nautilus prices also remain somewhat spendy..

I also just sold a 1/4 sim in South Islandia at 4.5/sq m

I think the LL land market is actually beginning to align, somewhat, with the real world. As in, "location, location, location."

I speak with much less authority since I never paid much attention until very recently. But this seems true, to me. However I see mainland 'meh' parcels going for 4 per sq m and up also. I dont' know how fast they sell.

I was watching this one parcel that was big but it was nearly 500 USD also, and it had problems like being near some bad builds, and eyesores. The parcel sat a good while untouched. I knew the buyer (whoever it would be) would chop it up and sell it to people who wanted a nice view (some parcels did have that.) That is what happened. I suppose I could've done the same thing, but that isn't my thing, and I don't want to be at that tier level where flipping makes sense. But that person made a nice profit.

(If I ever go to that tier level it would be to have my own sim, and do something cool there.)

A bot does have an av name associated with it - it is an account that could log in the normal way. They log in with special bot software that does not use much resource - or not as much anyway. They are totally run by the computer, so of course they can be instantly somewhere. I assume they somehow have access to all land listings the minute something is marked for sale cuz if people screw up on setting the parms, they can end up with a bot nabbing it instantly. That is about all I know.

Not all hovering avs are bots. When I am land looking, I will TP to a plot and then hover while I cam all over the sim and neighboring areas - or even sometimes go afk.

It was probably me hovering. I turn on owners view and parcel boundries. Also turn off rendering on water and volume. Best way to see potenial boundry problems.

Oh sure everyone does that when they look at land, but some stay for hours, or at least they are still in the same spot if you go back much, much later. Maybe those were bots I saw.

If there is special software being used to game the system I am not surprised bots are being outlawed, then.

How does the bot buy the land, though? I thought it took a person behind the screen to do that.

Thanks for the answers I always wondered.

This is actually GREAT news! It means the bots and flippers are reaching the end of their resources. With a bit of luck, they'll finally go bankrupt soon and we'll be rid of the scum.
So yes, if you were never sure about buying land, even though you had some allowance, I'd advice to look into it now that the prices are actually worth the bother. It's a 1 time investment if you have the allowance anyway, but gives you a nice place to unpack your bags, invite friends, show people how a parcel could actually look nice, and whatever else you may think of.

Bots are in and out like lightning. That's their thing. They move quicker than the human avi land flipper. They are programmed to initiate a buy when certain conditions are met. No human involvement is required.

Oh, Annie is a cool bot. Normally, she wears a supergirl outfit (well, the last time I saw her, that is). She is a landmachine.com "placer" bot, which means she goes around rezzing/cleaning up signs and other builds on plots being managed/sold by landmachine customers. I've seen her in action, and it's pretty amazing how fast she is.

Sounds like gaming the system/unfair advantage, then, definitely. How can a human compete against a machine!?

Maybe LL has been disabling or outlawing bots to the extent that they are not snapping up the cheapie land any more.

I saw a parcel for 1000 linden that was a 512 and really, not bad surroundings, when I was ambling around out of curiosity last night. So if anyone is looking to get a premium with a 512 this is a pretty good time to do it, I think.

I think the land market will rebalance once people realise that the bots are gone.

What would also be great for everyone's pockets long-term is them lowering tier fees.
