Does anyone know or even have any idea what the hell that statement "Linden Lab’s role is changing" is all about in reference to this blog post? Is this in reference to the party only or is there something new and scary coming down the road? i guess we'll all find together out when they make the big reveal.  _____________________

I don't know how much I can say, but yes... I had a very fruitful discussion last night, and am pleased. Even though the entry is awful hard to translate into English.  Mari That's wonderful news. Internally I'm doing the Snoopy dance, while trying to appear busy. The special guest speaker with the special announcement comment did sound kinda ominous. My realistic wish would be for a Class 6 server. My aint-gonna-happen wish would be for a reduction in tier prices. My fear is that it will be another well-intentioned, poorly-executed policy change. We've got a month to speculate, so get your tinfoil hats ready for all the theories we're about to hear. _____________________

My realistic wish would be for a Class 6 server. I think Jack said not-anytime-soon about this, not too long ago. edit: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/02/13/there-is-no-class-6/ Just a short post in answer to the rumours that seem to have been circulating inworld over the last few days that there are class 6 regions on the grid. We’re not sure where this has come from, but there is no such thing as a class 6 and we have absolutely no plans to introduce a new class of hardware any time soon. So consider that rumour squished. We have only class 4s and 5s on the grid. Due to some cleverness that we call Het-Grid, we are able to run different simulator versions, so we have some Havok 4 regions inworld undergoing trials for example, but these are still on class 5 hardware. There is no class 6. My aint-gonna-happen wish would be for a reduction in tier prices. Maybe.. I don't see how that ties in with a special guest though, which I was assuming was related to the important announcement. |

That could be it. I think sometimes the Lindens put a obscure comment in just to make the assumption machine spin up so they can get lulz.  "Hey, Torley.. check out the conspiracy theory I caused!" "Friendly kudos." More like "Damn, they've calmed down already what should we do to stirr them up again?" "Hmm lets, prod them with a mystery announcement and see what they come up with........." _____________________

Actually, that would be the only rational way to establish an all-PG mainland area. By starting fresh, in a seperate grid. Well at least seperate continents, a seperate grid would be a pain forcontent creators, to make stuff twice, and if you could transfer it, there would be nothing to stop X rated stuff getting about nyways _____________________

And they would have to first offer transfers of land to it (without a wavier on tier while said transfer takes place) for the current land owners so they can move appropriate builds there. And they would have to increase the in world lindens to do spot checks on the areas, for inappropriate builds There would need to be a distance between them to prevent a next door mature sim making it kinda hard to have a pg/g rated venue (as many have trouble now where ad farms pop up with nude and adult adds near pg rated homes and businesses) _____________________
