I remember when these forums blazed with activity, and land was worth something.

Drive off people like Jig and I can tell you exactly where we are headed.

She does not seem weak to me.

She also does not seem like she is going anywhere.

I shall do my solemn duty to support Jig for the good of SL and all its residents and for the sake of not devaluing land and for freedom etc etc etc!!!

I agree. Thanks for being kind to her when I was on the attack. It modeled the behavior I needed to see and showed me a better way to react to things that upset me.

After talking to her inworld, I saw a different side of her and I agree support is what she needs. Or at the very least, not attack and let her be to do her thing. The ignore feature is there for a reason for those who are infuriated easily (like me in a former life).

I wil read this thread with interest and try not to get too involved. I think I am going "somewhere" but in sl I may be in stasis. I am at a cross roads. Hal is wondering if emails make more sense - we are too Transatlantic for any meaningful relationship. I wanted so much here - a really exciting place to become a leading artistic venue with bands and singers and artists really working the screen and the system. We could have done so much more than we have done. This was a brilliant opportunity to really make the web hum. But it's turned Tinkerbelle-suburbia on me. Metaphorically, we have people flying off to work instead of taking the bus.

Desmond is right in his large post - we must take a good look at what we have been given. Maybe, this is OUR 1492 ...

In real I am incredibly busy and it all seems like days fly into weeks and into months. I am NOT wasting my time. Devoting it to work and creating. Celibate in real to not be distracted in what I do. But I am a curious woman and love people and the world. I love all that buzz we make as we spin this globe. Thanks you for these lovely things you have said, all of you. In this month will be the anniversary of my "terrible accident" in real and in this month I lost someone very close to me also in real. So what you said touched me very deeply.

I'm not sure that Jig needs "support" -- except insofar as we all need a bit of that at times. This suggests some sort of weakness on her part. I don't find Jig weak.

Jig's a big girl: she has demonstrated that she can handle contention and controversy. But anyone can get ground down by abusive or nasty responses. What she needs is (that dread word) respect. And by that, I simply mean that she be treated by us all with courtesy, civility, and (where warranted) seriousness.

And that is neither more nor less than I think we should demand for anyone and everyone here.

Yes, I do. Its like having your back scratched. No one scratches my back and its one thing I miss when I'm on my own. Everyone else gets their back scratched but I have to pack my scratcher in my suitcase.
So that is support to me.

Which is why I'm a bit confused why one name was singled out.

I suppose - I don't know Jig's circumstances in detail. In my experience, those most in need of support are the very, very quiet ones. The ones who are stuck in constraining circumstances, and do not believe they will ever escape.

I think that if you don't understand someone...or someone baffles you....or you find yourself wanting to wring someone's neck.....that it is worth sending them a private message to do some one-on-one time.....rather than trying to judge based solely on forum posts. If something they do is hitting a nerve....it might be something you have in common, actually.....it's something you recognize, and may or may not like about yourself, or may not understand about yourself.....otherwise it would not hit a nerve.

This is a suggestion, not preaching, because I don't always follow it myself.....but if you don't feel like it's your duty to get to know someone from forum one-on-one, or if you don't want to take the time.....and you're going to pass on that......then we should probably pass on making judgments as well.
