Needing to get something off my chest!

Right now I am very upset. I run a business. It's a dance/escort club plus I have multiple stores. I have had this business going for over 18 months and it continues to do well and grow bigger all the time. I own about a 1/3 of a sims on the mainland. But I have a problem.

As my business as grown, so hasn't the business of rental property around me. Another owns perhaps most if not all on the sims beside me, plus a connective property that boarders my club. At first I have tried to take all this womans ongoing and daily IMs of problems she doesn't like involving my business. The club is in a victorian style mansion. She wanted me to change the style. I wouldn't. She didn't like my boarders around the club ..I complied to borders of trees. She didn't like seeing my few campers in front of my club, I had four, they caused lag to her sims. So I moved them. At first when she moved in she toured my club with her partner.. "this has to go. That causes lag ..needs to go, too. Etc... I really tried to comply with some of her wishes. Although they were endless.

If I chose not to remove something, complaints in IMs, then notecards. I would either appologize and remove them or something for the first 6 months. Then I got other games for my clubbers. Nope. that one has to go too she would tell me. I hear the music on my lot edge. "what the F....?"...I started to say..enough is enough. I banned her from my property and her partner. Do I need to say it still hasn't ended a year later? Numerous complaints about my games, even after changing them looking for non musical ones. Even a linden came to me saying, that came as to go for it shouts. GRRRRrr

She was continuously telling me to move. I told her it wasn't financially possible. She says you will. I muted her and her partner. Enough is enough. She owns a business of flying ..daily helicopters would fly over my club from her group members. Clear harassment..and hover over my land. A war that just wouldn't end. I just tried to ignore her the best I could.

Then last week. I come online to find my roof to my club is gone. WTF..after almost 2 years the roof that hasn't moved returned...Lindens returned it. It was a parcel encroachment and yesterday without warning my partners account was suspended due to the encroachment. I am at my wits end. It was on a high building and the roof had a very small minor overhang. Heck didn't touch anything that was in the air, and perhaps a hair over the border line if that.

I just can't believe that SL would allow this sort of crap to go on. Allowing another to do petty complaints to muscle people to leave their land. And even to the point of having someone's account suspended. I can't stop her group from flying and hovering their loud helicopters or jets on my land because I am open to the public and no group bannings. I get to be harrassed, and there is nothing I can do to fight this. SL won't even listen to reason.

I took a look over at your place just now. I'm wondering if your neighbor is more at issue with the theme of your business rather than the content. I don't know which neighbor is complaining, but the entire place seems like a typical mainland mishmash, nothing seems any better, or worse than the other. I'd make sure I wasn't encroaching or otherwise negatively impactine her any more than the other businesses and tell her to STFU. If she harasses you, definitely AR her.

First of all, why haven't you muted this person?

Second, I assume you have spatialized sounds restricted to your parcel.

Third, good luck with the account suspension. Have your partner keep hammering on Support or nothing will happen. Nothing may happen anyway. LL is great at ignoring legitimate tickets while caving into the whiners and griefers. But it sure won't hurt anything -- the account is already suspended, nothing to lose now.

You're free to disable object entry, over your parcel. While it may not put a stop to the helicopter traffic, it will cause her to receive notices to her account every time one of them tries to go over your land.

Also, you might choose to check "Restrict Spatialized Sound to this parcel" on the media tab, and "Use a Private Spatial Channel" under voice. This will make sure that any "sound making" objects on your land, can't be heard on hers, and vice versa. It also ensures that your clubgoer's voice chatter can't be heard outside your land, and it ensures that in a fit of rage, your neighbor isn't shouting obscenities at your clubgoers.

After that, I honestly think you could consider selling your land. In fact, what I would do, is research the amount and cost of the land you'd like to buy, and then set your current land for sale, for an amount somewhat higher than that (profitably higher, but not abusively higher). Make sure you don't have any precious, no-copy items rezzed into your club, because when the land is purchased, you might not get much notice before your club is autoreturned.

When someone buys the land, take your club, and go buy a new piece of land.


Leaving aside, for the moment, that you were there first, and she knew what she was getting into when she bought the land, this is just terribly rude sounding. As if she has the right to decide which of your items are appropriate, on your land.

The only thing I ever complained about in the sim I moved into, was a physical object on my neighbor's land, that when the sim had a little freeze or pause from time to time, the object's "phantom" would travel across my land. I wouldn't even have bothered complaining about it, if it weren't a mobile lightsource.

This is an interesting example of perspective. It always depends on who is telling the story. It is not uncommon that people post here to complain about neighbours, but usually it's the other way around. Of course the offending party usually comes out worse in the description.

Your neighbour might be a shrill harpie that can't be pleased, but I wonder what her side of the story would be. Perhaps something like "this garish build next door... hookers hanging around where I have to look at them... badly designed scripts lagging everybody... awful music blaring into my property.... games shouting into the sim... pieces of their build encroaching on my parcel....

Of course, I haven't seen your build so none of the above may apply. But it's possible that your neighbour, unless the sort who actually enjoyns making people miserable, might feel perfectly justified with her complaints and demands. In that case you two were just not meant to work side by side.

Oh, and don't AR anyone until you've at least tried ignoring them, which you obviously haven't yet.

Mute and then if the harassment continues AR her. If you do Ar her. I say this because its mainland and you were there first. She knew where she was buying... If she did not like it she should have bought somewhere else.

Wow, that's bold. I may ask neighbors to take down banlines but I wouldn't criticize their builds. And I have never heard of a suspension due to parcel encroachment. What the heck.

Sorry, but I'm with the neighbor (and the Linden) on this one. llShout() is a very potent weapon, whether one means to be griefing with it or not.

If anythings' causing lag near your place, it has to be that area just west of you. Literally everything there is animated: textures, objects, dozens of animated objects which have listens open.. You know the location I'm talking about, the one with the "for sale" sign of skyscraper proportions, which on it's own is an offensive build in only a few hours from now. Especially since there seem to be about 20 more huge adverts on that same parcel.

Um I had to re-read the OP's post I assume she tried to help and cooperate for six months, then was fed up banned and muted her neighbor and partner then it escalated with the neighbor ARing her.

Yes, I tried and do have them on muted. I did that months ago. Anyone that has been with SL knows you can disable fly on your land. But with just a few keyboard buttons you can still fly on land that has fly disable.

My beef that upsets me the most is that SL came in with no warning removed the "encroachment" violation of the roof in violation without a warning to a profitable business. It wasn't like it was an emergency situation like a huge prim rotating and lagging the area. It was a slight hair over hang that didn't even touch a thing, nor go through anything on the border. Both my partner and I are there for hours everyday. A notice, a warning, a "hey do you know" would of been sufficient and we would of fixed the problem. It didn't even end there. SL a week or two later decides the 'encroachment" needed an account suspension. Again, no warning. It wasn't a deliberate action of grieving, or anything. I feel violated. Not only by those that are harassing me and my business, but that I was violated by "the gods of SL" the lindens and not a thing I can do about it.

I love second life. I love the freedom of creativity. but sometimes the insensitivity of Linden Labs really bothers me. The action didn't solve a thing. If anything it only escalated an already existing problem. Now I have upset group members that want to get involved over the lack of my partner and the unfairness. A petition is being done up, but I am sure that will fall on deaf ears too.

I feel more violated now by SL then I do over the year of dealing with the harassment.

With all due respect, I can't help but think that the suspension is not due to a slight overhang of a prim a couple of weeks earlier. I have to think that something else happened to cause it.
