If they did/do it wouldn't surprise me. Dumbing it down for the masses. Several devs do this to make it more 'user friendly'. EA did it with the Sims2. They simplify everything to the point where I am surprised some people on those forums are computer literate enough to turn on their PC's *chuckle*

I cant really criticize that approach, most devs would kill for the sales numbers of the Sims. so their certainly is some validity and logic to that approach.

And yes I am a PC elitist, I'll save you the trouble for calling me such. *grin*
Yeah, what fools. Making their product so the General Public can understand and use it. Bastards!

Indeed, because giving in to the lowest common denominator rather then educating the masses is such the way to go in the long term. Just look at the output of many of our public schools! How silly of me to think otherwise... ;)

On a serious note if 'radial menu' breaks the usage of SL for the common user then theres a bigger issue of overall education at play then just this example.

I can't argue with you on the Public School issue, I know, I'm in one every day. The semantics of what it is called are unimportant, the function remains the same. If it were a case of changing the function becuase it was too difficult to understand, that is what I would consider dumbing down. Whether it's called Radial, Pie, or Clickable Round Thingie (My new favorite) is of little importance to me. But I slept through most computer classes anyway.

I do agree though in there has to be a medium between dumbed down kiddie speak, and language that is only heard at places like JPL. SL apparently is being aimed at the average user, and the average user's computer knowledge is going to be....average. We had this debate earlier this year and it was the usual verbal fisticuffs, quite entertaining.

Did it actually put him on your friends list or was it just a fake blue menu, I been after one for a while that says.
"Tegg Bode has offered you the dubious honour of becoming an Eternal Enemy and Nemisis, Do you accept?"

A slip of the mouse opens the partnership page in your web browser and fills in someone's name?

'cause you can't offer partnership in-game.

some people's mice slip farther than others.

the other thing that might be helpful to you is to realize you never need to be naked

if you have a shirt on replace it with a shirt ...it will put the new one on take the old one off with no need to be nude same with pants and jackets and all that

Yes,

But where is the fun in that?
