For both groups:

You have one avatar and it is as close to your real life as you can make it.

You must make money.

You must own land.

You are so interesting everyone must be trying to spy on you.

You must have a romantic relationship. This latter is especially vexing if you want to enjoy a great build with a friend. All the sit poses are for romantically involved couples. Come on designers. Give us a few platonic benches please.

Here's one that often appears here:

Content creation is the critical feature of Second Life.

Although it might have been so at one time, at the moment - for the majority of users - content creation is pretty much irrelevant.

This really got my attention. Do you think its social interaction now?

I think they are about equal. I seem to run across just as many creators as non creators in my travels.

I've noticed that I'm much more into live music now and events but I thought it was because I had hit a creative block...

..so its more about events and social events..or at least 50/50.

So next big wave are mostly tourists with a lessor percentage of content creators?

Dnali wanders off to track this bright shiny new thought....

I consider myself a Tourist, I don't "live" in SL, I just visit and do stuff. I do spend money, akin to spenidng on a vacation.I think the next big wave will be more the "Real Lifers" than anything else. SL will be a meating place for them. Some will create and spen I guess, but I suspect a good portion won't as they will only see their avatars as a chat device, and won't get too wrapped up in what it owns or how it looks. I'm starting to see a good number of Newbie looking people who are 6 months old and upward.
