Unfortunately, due to the airheads of SL - many people will completely jump on this, no matter how it's said. Too many people in this game have "been to Iraq", "died and came back to life", "in the ICU", "need a new heart" and so on and so on.

It's a sad moment because it brings those who really do pass no peace in SL. I have been so sick of hearing how many of these idiots "served" in Iraq, and can't even answer a simple question about it (and yes, there's a reason I'd know the answer) and it's one of my biggest peeves in this game.

Or so and so's heart stopped for 5 minutes but was brought back (which is impossible to be back to normal because your brain would have suffered the damage without blood pumping) and there's more...

I don't know what happened, and it's not my business. Though I did own a few pieces. Whatever path this person took - be it to the other side, or just outside of SL, I thank them for the creativity I was brought.

I'm not fooled for a minute, i remember Dazzle having many "closing sales", one after the other. They milked sl for all it was worth.

I'm sure that Starley will be relieved that it wasn't her friend's funeral she attended.

I am confused, isn't ginny the one who posted that post about the partner passing?

Or is the surviving partner posting through the deceased partner's account?

I love the dazzle line, have not seen the LC stuff but can imagine it is just as awesome

it is sad to lose someone, even when you do not know them

I do not have to say I can imagine what the family and friends of the deceased are going through, because I know, no need to imagine

We all at one time or another have lost a loved one, so we know what they are dealing with

As for the post about the closing of the three lions, yes a bit off for this thread, but it is sad as well (I had not heard about that till now)

This whole situation makes me wonder, how many ppl have passed that use SL :(

Sad to think about

In memory of Ginny Talamasca

I didn't know Ginny Talamasca or AKA Devyn Carmichael...until this thread was posted. Condolences to his family and friends. It's so sad to lose someone...life is strange...death even stranger...but both we all face.

I visited Ginny and crew's shop in Dazzle. Even though I'm not a fashionista...I could tell their work is of the highest quality.

Among the tributes I found this, which also includes a short video, In memory of Ginny Talamasca:

I am so sad to read of this, I love Last Call their work is the upmost credit to them.

My thoughts, best wishes and love go to all of Ginny Talamasca's friends and family, in SL and RL.

I actually never bought anything at Last Call because it's just not my style, but I HAVE lost loved ones, and we're talking losing someone at 20 to cancer whom I wanted to marry at the time. I KNOW how it feels, and that, for me, makes it all the more callous if some people start the "conspiracy theory" thing, or if I have to read stuff like this:
http://brutalhonestysl.blogspot.com/2007/11/four-for-road.html

Yeah, warning-contains not so nice language and a lot of stuff that made me want to blow up something...I read all 170 comments. Maybe I'm a masochist.

To even suggest it's a "marketing ploy" if they close four successful sims for days without warning and thus losing REAL money is just plain stupid. When i saw the four had closed, the wording somehow made me uneasy and I immediately though, "SHIT, someone close must have died". To suggest it's all just a conspiracy and that the creative half of Ginny faked his own death...is beyond words.
And yes, I take that very seriously.

I've been reading a few of the sites which have honored the life of Ginny Talamasca here in SL and am shocked by Ginny's death. Sadly, it is a reminder to me, that SL is not just a game, or a place where I conduct business, but a place where you invest feelings, create relationships and friendships and meet people who can affect you in more than just this virtual world.

While I was not so fortunate to call Ginny, a personal or close friend, I will miss Ginny's contribution to SL and I join those who mourn Ginny Talamasca.

And I do find it extremely saddening that people think this could be a marketing guise. Guess that's one of the results of one chain letter to much. :(

If you read the post by Ginny's partner it's clear he was trying to address a bunch of rumors and speculation while also coping with his loss. And you're right- it's easy to become jaded here, with all the weird stuff some residents try to pull. Sadly, this is no hoax. :(

You're mean. Why don't you go the hell away. This is a huge blow to the community, Ginny Talamasca was THE BEST clothing designer in Second Life, many of us looked up to him. Many of us were also very close with him, can you imagine if your best friend died and someone told you you were trying to milk people for what they were worth?
The fact you compare death to a sale scares me. ;(
I think it would be nice though, for everyone to show your respect for Ginny in some way, even if it's just by wearing Dazzle or Last Call this week.

I am totally sickened by this remark. I didn't know Ginny at all, except in buying his clothes, but it makes me sad that we have become so cynical about things, that we think someone would fake their death as a money making ploy in this game. What money was made while the Quad was closed...none.

People are missing their friend, they are in mourning, we need to be supportive of each each other and mindful of what we say.

Sometimes our opinions are best kept to ourselves, and not just spouted out.

To all the friends, family, partner, and simply the people who were touched by this man, I send my condolences. And to Ginny...thanks for sharing your talent with us in our Second Lives : )

I also find it weird how people slag off Ginny for being untruthful, or for his bad character traits. Get real. It doesn't matter anymore. A REAL person has died, far too young, and tossing stones and glass houses and all that.

well i dont know the person who died directly but i know many other people who are content creators in sl. Ive heard more then once that Ginny wasnt a very nice person. Still its sad when anyone dies. So maybe its better not to speak ill of the dead. I dont agree with some of the things being said in this forum about the departed persons work. But given the situation it doesnt seem appropriate to debate on who is the "best" designer in sl. Starley has my deepest sympathies.

This is truly a huge loss to the SL community, and I offer my condolences to all that are left behind. Occasionally we are reminded of our mortality in a world where these things do not seem to exist, and it is always going to be a heartbreaking and sad time.

To those who choose to be rude about it, shame on you. What kind of world do we live in when such an awful thing happens, and it is met all too soon with sarcasm, rudeness and suspicion. When someone passes, there is no place for any negativity, and how disrespectful is it to even bring it into the discussion. When my best friend passed I encountered a couple of people like that, how sad is it that it is more than just a rare occurrence.

Why should the quality of their work, or whether they were a nice person or not, come into it, especially if you didn't know them personally? Of course it's better to not speak ill of the dead, I just find it terrible that people need to be reminded of that.

I think this pertains to people we feel are worthy of ppl grieving for them

if we were speaking of someone who in the public eye, was a hated person, no one would think badly of speaking ill of them.
For example how many folks would be showing the same concern, if say, the creators of the landbot, or copybot, or the tons of other things we have had to deal with in a negative way, were to pass? (rhetorical question)

I do not have much to say other than if it is real, then my heart felt condolences go out to the loved ones left behind.
(and yes I said IF, because we really do not know for sure, we can only go on what we read and choose to believe, I am not saying it is false, nor am I saying it is true, I just have no way of knowing other than what I read, which has nothing to back it up other than the posters words)

I have jsut stumbled on this post, can't believe I hadn't hear earlier.

Ginny was an amazing person. I only had the privilage of talking iwth him a couple of times, but have been a fan of Dazzle clothes always. Just last night I was commenting on how many I had. And I had no idea what had happened then :(

My sympathies to his partner, friends and family. I know there is nothing any of us can say to lessen their pain, but I hope that knowing so many people were touched by Ginny and his amazing work, and that his clothing will be no doubt always worn in SL is something of a tribute.

So very sad :(

If someone had a spare 512 somewhere it would be really lovely to have a little memorial on the mainland to SLers we have lost over the years. Names could be added over time.

Anybody???

Actually I was working on something like that.
