Raudf didn't mean anything against your establishment. He meant, maybe you are being set up. Alts A, B, C come in, look around, say "Hey this place could use some Zyngo machines. I love to play and I'd come here every night!" Pretty soon Alt D comes in, sample case in hand. "Hi, I'm selling Zyngo machines! Do you think your customers would like to play Zyngo here?"

A setup, see? All the same guy, who works for Copybotted Zyngo Machines R Us.

i see how that could happen. Something to think about and a good reason to buy straight from the creator's shop.

thanks =)

Precisely. Sorry, just finally got back to the forums.

(ppsssttt, Lindal.. I'm a girl :p)

I ask before making accusations of this sort, or even haring people down those trails of thought. Sorry if it seemed as though I was implying something about your business. I actually assumed everyone who owns a business in SL gets those kinds of peddlers anyways ;) Like in RL, I tell them, "No thank you," and escort them off the premises. (In a very few cases, in highly entertaining ways.)

It just seemed a little too convenient and that always puts me on guard, since someone tried something similar on me in RL. What sent up the red flag was these things:

1. You had several people asking you to have some.
2. Shortly (or not too long after) people come around "selling" the machines.
3. They offer to to set up and "maintain" the machines.
4. They can't even answer what are basic questions about the machines.

1 and 2 are a form of scam that comes up in RL, usually with small business owners or people who are running another variation of scam.

On 3.. I'm very paranoid about what goes on my land. I want full control of it, because what happens because of that machine will reflect on me and my business. This also makes me wonder about who is really getting paid if those machines are used. Is it you, is it supposed to be split or is it them? If they set it up, more likely them. Which leads to payout.. will that happen at all or what?

And 4.. 4 is a sign that having done customer service I absolutely hate with a passion. 4 is the dead ringer for a con artist OR someone who knows exactly nothing about their product. Both lead to customer service nightmares for the customer. The former, you won't get any and the second, won't have a clue what went wrong or why, let alone how to fix it.

I'm glad you didn't buy from them, Lynne.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful response, especially after my testiness.

I agree with you on all those points. A couple of the people who asked are regular patrons and those are the ones i pay the most attention to because i want them to stay happy.

I won't sign up for those deals where they "maintain" the system like it's some coca cola vending machine and give me 10%, especially if it's a system that has the potential to be controversial and cause drama if it's not setup properly.

One huge red flag is if there is enough margin to give me 10% and pay a salesperson commission, how fair is this system going to be to my patrons?

This is meant to be another entertainment option on my parcel and not meant to be a revenue generator in itself.

i think i learned a lot from everyone's contributions to this thread to avoid some missteps. i'm sure there are more lessons to be learned from it.

Thank you for all the contributions so far. =)

Hello Lynne -

I got hooked on Zyngo when I was taking the traffic cone tours, and was impressed by how addictive they can be....:)......so I purchased a Zyngo machine directly from the creator on Xstreet, to set up in my store. I added another game machine, as well.....and purchased that one from a resale shop. It works fine. Both have worked fine for months, with not one problem.

I put them in a back room, with some lucky chairs....and people love stopping in there. There will be the hard core Zyngo players, and also regular customers stop in there to play as well. Some of the Zyngo players have turned into really good customers, and some of the customers have turned into really good Zyngo players.

It's going to depend on what your intentions are for the use of them, as to how you set up pay-ins and pay-offs. I added them just for fun, and to generate some traffic in a new section of the store. Each machine is set to play Free - and there is a 50L pay-off, once a day, to the highest score. It has really been fun for people, and it has added some new customers to the store.

As far as ethics....if you run every single thing that you do in your business all day long....in a forum thread....there will be a certain percentage of people that have an ethical issue with every single thing that you do.....just the way it is.

I like your approach to it too. That sounds like a fun option for visitors and is certainly fair.

Set up two machines, one free play and one 20L pay-in and 100L pot. Seems to be working and have only lost 200L over 48ish hours. I learned a lot and will prolly tweak the settings some more.

Well this thread at least gave me the idea of setting up a few Zingo machines on my new parcel. Cutting out a small part so I can put them in search, could help attracting people, and especially Micky's posting makes me think that there can be a cross over effect.

The only thing is that I think they are damn expensive: 2499 for just 1 machine? So putting up 3 of them, will cost me 7500 linden, a pretty expensive tryout...
