I joined second life about a year and half ago now...building up my life and doing quite well. Had a lot saved in Ginko, owned a bit of land with my own house...ginko went bust and I lost everything. I ended up with about 20,000 in shares which I cashed in but was a big drop from the hundreds of thousands I had saved in ginko. I had to sell my land which I originally paid 45k but only managed to sell it for 15k as I just couldnt afford the tier as my SL balance was so low.

I downgraded and rented a house on one of Bill Stirlings amazing sims, rented 3 boat docks and had spent every bit of money i had fitting my new small house out but was very happy with the area and being happy with living in a cheaper community and being able to drive my boat to the galaxy!

Cutting a long story short...my boat was large in prim size i don't have much time to login to second life and my boat docks were expiring causing me to go over my prims, I was warned twice but had not logged in for 6 weeks. I logged in said sorry, paid for more docks but my own fault completly parked my boat in another one of the sims they run which was different from mine with the prim count and went over my limit breaking the rules.

I've now been banned from every sim they own and lost everything in my house. They have said it will be returned to my inventory but nothing has come back.

I have offered to pay all the additional costs for prims which I had been used when not allowed even pay back double the cost and pay up front for the max 10 weeks you can pay but they still wont let me back in.

99.9% of my SL time was spent on Bill Stirlings sims and the galaxy boat so by being banned i'm thinking should i just give up on SL and say it wasnt meant to be ?

You sound like you enjoy your SL time when you can get in, and obviosly don't mind spending money on your hobby.

It sounds like you have some RL pressures that don't allow you in as often as you like.

Perhaps you'd be a bit better off with a much smaller residence, or lead an entirely transient lifestyle (which many in SL do quite successfully, and happily)

Well if you are entering in some sort of business transaction, ie renting space and you aren't logging in in 6 weeks, perhaps SL isn't for you, or at least any type of commitment. There are months where i don't log on much, but since I own land I do log in at least at teir time, even if it is a day late sometimes.

You said you were away and received 2 notices in that time. What if the situation were reversed and you had an issue? Would you be happy if your landlord didn't log in for 6 weeks? I'm not sticking up for landlords necessarily, but both parties in rental agreements have responsibilities they should honor.

If you really can't get inworld with any regularity, perhaps putting down roots as it were, should be avoided.

I think that the homeless lifestyle is probably more suitable until you have time to pay attention to your obligations. It's perfectly valid and certainly less stressful!

As for your stuff, you do know that objects "coalesce" into a jenga-block-looking-thingy in lost & found, right? Several objects appear to be only one object in your lost and found inventory.

Also, if things were deeded but not transferable, that would be problematic. Those items would be deleted when returned.

Check your trash, or your Lost and Found, for an amalgamated cluster of objects; looks like building blocks, may have some obscure name like "object."

These will be your stuff, all coalesced into one big collection. You will have to go to a vacant lot or sandbox to rez the "object" and sort out all your stuff. It's a pain in the patootie, but that may be where your stuff is..

RL pressures is not the word! You read me quite me well!

The place I was renting was a small 2 room building just 450 a week with a garage one of the few places I could find anywhere in SL where I could park my car and take a boat to the galaxy where I liked to spend the little time i get in sl and meet friends. It took me ages for one of the houses become to available and had to pay someone to take over the house cos i liked it so much.

That is something you have to figure out for yourself. I mean, do you want to stay and find something else in SL that peaks your interest, or do you want to cancel your account? Only you know what is going to work for you, but if it were me, I would hang out longer in SL and go exploring for the next hot adventure!

Thanks for the advice, i liked owning the land because I could drive my boat from where I live to the galaxy and back actually having a purpose of something to do in SL.

I do understand the landlord and It was my fault i broke the terms I know but i've offered to pay back double, pay 10 weeks in advance and never ever do it again but still banned from every sim they own :-(

Again, looking from both sides, would you give a landlord a second chance in a similar situation/ probably not, you would take your business elsewhere. your items should have been returned however, I don't think a landlord can delete someone else's prims. They should be in your lost and found folder, maybe in one big cube, so I'd look into that further if i were you. As Cristalle said, perhaps a Homeless SL is best for you. As far as being banned, you could just create an alt and start over.

If you're sold on that locale, make an alt and start over ... and LOG IN once a month to pay!

This next time, if you have a RL friend who is also in SL more often, perhaps you can give them a little cash and get them to pay the landlord for you more regularly. They may have to own the land, but if you are both in a group and you have "owner" level rights, it should be fine. At 450 a week that's 8$ a month, so it's no biggie to give a friend a year's worth of rent in RL :)

Or simply heed the notices. No one is requiring you to log in every day but if you get the notice, log in. T'aint that hard.

Never thought about another account and doing it all again...I could I suppose but i've built up cosmic rust as a somebody and starting over again kind of feels wrong. I guess i'll be homeless until I found another part of SL which I like and this time remember to pay way in advance.

Thank goodness your second time around wasn't the WSE... That would have been embarassing.

I know people who pay ahead an entire year because of this very problem, one such friend came back and her place had vanished due to changes in the sim but the owner quickly resolved it.

There's no reason to quit if you are on a non-premium account since it's not costing you anything from that perspective but as others said you're going to have to assess your RL situation and personality and decide whether it makes sense for you to rent land or assume any other obligations to other SL users. If all your time was spent on those sims and you want to continue to do so, since money does not seem to be an issue with you, the suggestion someone made about making an alt account (or let's face it if you are going to be spending most of your time on those sims it's going to be your main account and you'll essentially be abandoning your old account) is not a bad idea. I've known others to make a fresh start because of burned bridges so it wouldn't be the first time.

I'd say 1) make a free alt account to hold your savings, and 2) BUY your own land straight from LL with a CC. You'll never have to worry about exceeding prim limits OR not logging in for as long as you like.
There's a bazillion other gorgeous places in SL you can call home to let yourself get transfixed on one little spot.
I consider both renting AND banking as risky behaviour, because they are. Just don't pin your SL livelyhood to the actions or NON-actions of a 3rd person/party.

That's why I go monthly. SL can be too transient to make any serious commitements, at least for me.

I don't understand why you rent if your likely to not play again for several months.

I'm usually in once a twice a week for a few hours and dont usually leave it 4+ weeks that was just RW being very busy but when I do come in I did have the TV so i could watch the sl cn and then drive down to the boat dock, then drive the boat around or go the galaxy..so it was something for me to do by having a house.

I know there are millions of other places and millions of things to do but I had finally got settled and in a way found a purpose of being a SL member again but then to loose it all and even worse be banned for all the owners sims!

Even lost all the paid up rent I paid to bill sterling

But i'll move on

Well I know there are two parcels on Bikini Beach, I live on Long Beach and have known the region owner for over a year. But she would do the same if you left and your tier was in arears.

My tier was not in arears, I had driven my boat which is high prim out of the main sim which i was holding a few boat docks for prims and the main house and parked it in the sim next door where i only own one boat dock which is less than the prims on the boat.

I had done this in error a few weeks before which is when I had the warning and I spoke to the site manager said sorry and bought more boat docks which were all paid up. I said i was sorry then and would pay what ever the cost was which is what I did.

It's not like I had not logged in for 3 months and not paid the rent for 3 months.

Yes the first time I had not been in for a few weeks and the warnings had been missed but I logged back in to find the boat returned back to me and i then spoke to the site manager and paid the extra and said sorry.

As bill stirlings land is in such demand they don't care and for them it's better to just get someone new in which I understand.

Maybe I misunderstood, I thought you said the rent had run out on your parcels and now your items have been returned. Are you saying your tier was paid up and the sim owner kicked you out because you were not actively using the land?
