From: Usagi Musashi How do I figure that? Because there are sploders still in clubs why have not they not taken them out? because the randomly look at locations? Well if that was the case then Babyblues place does not fall under the more popular location. Why hers?
[...]
Was this really needed? So your all knowing and the rest is dont now shit? ok fine.......You know everything and can fight every possible point? So your the greatest is that what you want to hear?
I have no idea where that personal attack came from or why, but never mind ... I am not "all knowing" but I do know how to read the policy and I do know how Linden Lab typically enforces things. I do not believe the OP got targeted because somebody at LL wants to harass her (the part of my post where you said I lost you). She was in violation of the rules, someone probably reported her, and the company took action to enforce their policy. If you get reported and the report turns out to be true, they will enforce the policy .. do you seriously believe they're supposed to say "Well this is against the new rule, but we haven't taken out every sploder on the grid, so carry on?" They are not going to find every violator, or remove them all at the same time, that's beyond their technological abilities -- just as the cops are not going to pull over every speeder. You and she keep talking as if the Lindens came to her club specifically to take away her sploder, just because. It just doesn't work that way. They investigate abuse reports, and it doesn't have to be on the list of popular places for them to enforce the rule. Yes it is true that sploders were not named in the official information, but the definition of games that are no longer allowed was clear, and sploders fit; and on the list of games that were named, LL stated clearly that the policy was not limited to those specific games, they were just examples. For the record, I will miss sploders. I never played casino games after my first month in SL -- too much else to do that is far more interesting -- but I did play sploders when at clubs that featured them, and usually came out a few dollars ahead. I have nothing against sploders ... but I expect LL to enforce its policy, so I have to say goodbye to them.

From: Jezebella Desmoulins It's hard to believe that people think "but so and so was doing it too" should relieve them from following the rules. It won't get you out of a speeding ticket on the highway, and it doesn't work here, either. If you don't like the fact that your sploder was removed while someone else's was not, your solution to level the playing field is to report the ones that haven't yet hit the Linden radar. Don't do that, it will just clog up the AR system, just let the Lindens do it when they get around to it. I say let the Splooders last as long as we can, its just a bit of fun after all.

Let's all speed and run red lights, too. The cops can't catch all of us. It's just a bit of fun, after all.

Happens everyday and speed cameras are the main source of income for the police force in my country. You don't go to jail for speeding, unless you kill someone. Yes, it doesn't make it right but you'll never hear the police complaining about all the revenue they receive from speeding tickets.

From: bladyblue Bommerang This is clear to you? the word SPLODER is never mentioned. We asked several times specifically about the sploders. Linden Lab refused to reply. Instead they begin this witch hunt campaign against select individuals that we all assume were abuse reported by some bizarre resident. Nice way to keep the drama down. You're insistance that they have to mention the word 'sploder' is neither fair nor reasonable. It's not fair, because what you're saying is they have to list every conceivable device, and any device not on the list is open to question. All someone has to do is to rename it, and say it's not a 'sploder', it's a 'money sphere', and they have to go to the trouble of figuring out what that means. You're asking them to do a never ending amount of work, while trying to create a loophole based on the name of things. It's also unreasonable, because 'sploder' isn't at all a well-defined term. It's perfectly possible to rig a sploder device so that it doesn't take money from patrons, or contributing money has no relationship to whether or not someone wins. One person's 'sploder' isn't the same as the next. They've given a reasonable set of criteria. While there are some good open questions concerning games that mix both skill and chance, no one has ever suggested there's any skill involved in a 'sploder'. In the particular case of sploders, the answer based on their criteria is so clear, that it seems like you're being deliberately obtuse.

Instead they begin this witch hunt campaign against select individuals that we all assume were abuse reported by some bizarre resident. Nice way to keep the drama down. My exact quote Covering this question, and Drawn from the LL Community Standars was this: From: someone There is also the extremely Important Phrase stating From: someone This includes (but is not limited to), for example, Casino Games such as: Meaning, that the Games Listed are Only examples, and because a Game isn't specificly named in the Policy, dosn't mean the game is OK. THERE is Linden Lab's Answer to Sploders. There is NO Need to specificly name ANY game INCLUDING Sploders as long as their Function falls Under Sections 1, and 2(a) of the Community Standard on Gambling machines. You can keep asking if you Like, But the answer has already been given. The arguement that Sploders were not Specificly named simply doesn't hold water. ~A number of Players Put money into a sploder ~It selects a small portion of the Players at random (Violation of section 1) ~It pays out to those randomly selected people a Cash amount in Lindens (Violation of section 2(a) ANY game that Violates those Conditions Is Banned. it really doesn't get any Clearer than that. From: someone Kidd Krasner: They've given a reasonable set of criteria. While there are some good open questions concerning games that mix both skill and chance, no one has ever suggested there's any skill involved in a 'sploder'. In the particular case of sploders, the answer based on their criteria is so clear, that it seems like you're being deliberately obtuse. Thank you Kidd, i WAS going to use your EXACT words, "it seems like you're being deliberately obtuse." But i chose to Edit them. I'm Glad somebody said it though. Angel.

I say let the Splooders last as long as we can, its just a bit of fun after all. Actually it's not just a bit of fun if it results in financial problems for Linden Lab by making it a target for banks and other financial institutions under the UIGEA and consequently problems for all of us. There are still loads of Zyngo and Sploder balls all over Second Life and if you really share any serious concern of the aforementioned possibility you should AR them when you see them and help keep Second Life gambling free. I still haven't seen the UIGEA regulations which were supposed to be published last month. If anyone knows where I can find them please let me know but I suspect that they still have not been issued yet. Depending on how draconian those regulations are for the banks, Linden Lab might be in trouble regardless of what it does because the ability of players to create content and engage in unregulated commerce makes it a practical impossibility for Linden Lab to competely eliminate the possibility of gambling within the game.

From: bladyblue Bommerang Tmy Entertainment is making one that complies and we wil be sploding again within a week. I don't think it's possible to make one that complies. If it's the one where people vote to see who wins the money - the "FAQ" blog post does explicitly say that wagering on an election is banned.

Of course it's possible, All you need to do is create one that hands out money Without the players putting anything in. Of course you will go broke. You can also have the Contests based upon asking, and answering trivial or general knowledge questions. it now becomes a Game of Skill, But again, the Players should not wager their own money, Unless they are paying an entry fee for Playing. Yes that is true, but there is still no need to clog up the AR system with reports about splooders etc, especially when they can be designed to fit within the rules. I say leave it to the lindens and they will get rid of all gambling devices eventually. Its there problem and by filing AR reports you are just making their problem harder to deal with, ultimately if they really wanted couldnt they just purge anything named zyngo or splooder. So if it was a choice between the end of secondlife and the end of zyngo they could make that decision for us, but obviouly it isnt or they would have done it already. Dont be to worried about the FBI, their not coming in to takeover just yet.

From: From the Anti-Gambling Policy Update: FAQ The term “wagering” applies to any covered game or activity (i.e. game of chance, sports betting) in which a user contributes Linden dollars (or real-world money or things of value), whether into a pot, at a table game, at a house game, for purchase of a card (such as Bingo), or in any way risks Linden dollars based on whether an event may or may not occur, such as whether a team will win a sporting event, or whether Barack Obama will win the Democratic primary.
The portion that I highlighted in that quote from the FAQ does indictate that sploders that rely on voting are also covered because there is money payed in and there is a payout which are 2 of the three criteria. The random generator is replaced by the chance that you'll be the winner of the vote.

Simply put, you can't complain on the forums about disciplinary action taken against you. Forum GuidelinesDisciplineBe respectful. Please challenge opinions, state your own and enjoy the discussion, but do not cross the line into personal attacks and insults because you will risk having your Second Life account suspended or banned. We believe that in-world and forum behavior are linked and behavior carries across the boundary. This means if you are suspended or banned in-world you are also suspended or banned from the forums, and vice versa, if your account is suspended or banned from the SL Forums, it will also be suspended or banned from in-world. Violations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on the severity of the offense and past history of violations. The following types of disciplinary action are possible remedies for inappropriate posts. - Deletion/editing of offending material: The material that violated the rules may be edited or deleted without warning. In addition, threads that are no longer productive may be locked from further posting.
- Informal warning: If the offense is not severe enough to warrant a formal warning, an informal warning may be issued. An informal warning is a private correspondence between Linden Lab and the violator, advising the violator of the offense and what (s)he can do to correct it.
- Formal warning: If the offense is severe enough or an informal warning has already been issued, Linden Lab may issue a formal warning. The formal warning becomes a permanent part of the poster’s record. Several warnings can result in suspension or banning of your account.
- Suspension: A suspension is the temporary deactivation of a violator’s posting privileges from the Second Life Forums and from in-world activities.
- Ban: A ban is the permanent deactivation of the violator’s account with the Second Life Forums and from in-world activities.
Recourse: If Linden Lab takes disciplinary action against you that you believe was unfair or inconsistent, you may appeal the decision. An appeal is an e-mail explaining your situation and why you believe you should not have been disciplined. Appeals must be sent to abuse@secondlife.com, and must follow this appeals procedure, or they will not be considered. You may submit only one appeal per disciplinary action. Basic Forum Policies and Etiquette- Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc.
- Flaming, Spamming, Trolling – Flaming (posting a message that is intended to incite anger or directly attack a person or persons), Spamming (multiple posts of the same topic or discussion), and Trolling (a post with an intentionally contrary opinion written with the intent of inciting or getting argumentative opinions) are strongly discouraged. If you think your post might be over-reactive, or that it might fall into one of these definitions, please reconsider posting.
- Reposting – If a moderator removes your post, do not repost it elsewhere. Do not repost threads that have been locked or deleted and do not repost content that has been edited or deleted by a moderator. Furthermore, please do not post a "why did my post get removed" post. Send any further discussion regarding post removals to abuse@lindenlab.com.
