Is this worth an AR?

I have a 512 mainland plot. For most of the past year my skybox was at about 400m with no problems. However just recently, someone nearby opened a multi-storey art gallery which overlooked me so I decided to move higher. Now, I understand we all want our little bit of pretend privacy for our skyboxes and so I would, had it been possible, have placed my skybox at a different height from any others nearby. The problem was that my near neighbours (next door but one) have a continuous column of skyboxes from 200m right up to the build limit, so in the end I decided to just put mine up near the build limit, thinking that if the neighbours didn't like it there, they could get in touch and I would be happy to negotiate. Unfortunately, they are obviously unhappy with me being there but rather than contact me they have chosen to change the outside of their top skybox into a huge megaprim with a hideous devil texture. Inspection reveals that the object is called "You Are Warned To Stay Away", which, given that there's only me and them up there for quite a distance, I can't help but take a bit personally. Anyhow, my first tactic was to just ignore them, hope they'd get bored and change it back. I retextured the inside of my skybox bubble with clouds to match the outside (was transparent before), so I didn't have the devil staring at me when taking tea on my balcony, but it's been like that for a few weeks now and I really miss the windlight clouds floating past. Their prim encroaches on three other people's parcels (although not mine) and also overhangs a sim boundary, which I understand is not a good idea. The thing is, I am not sure I want to drag all the neighbours into a dispute about something that probably doesn't bother them in the slightest. Should I put in an AR? Will it be taken seriously if it is not actually my parcel being encroached, or would I need to get the neighbours to AR as well? Should I IM them and hope we can have a reasonable discussion? I did think about downloading the RC and just moving my skybox right up high, but I have at least one item of *ahem* "furniture" which won't work above the build limit. I could move lower down again but I've sort of gone all stubborn about that now. I would welcome your thoughts ...

If I were you, I'd download the RC. The furniture will work fine above the old build limit, unless the script is explicitly checking for that old limit--which would be very weird. (The old warpPos-based teleporters did that--for reasons beyond just staying under the build limit--but I've not encountered furniture scripts that do it. If you have such a thing, IM me to see if a replacement script might be possible.)
Also, I wouldn't necessarily ascribe anything personal to the Stay Away Megaprim. They may have had other "visitors" playing with their, uh, "furniture" just coincidentally with when you moved your skybox. At least, if it were me, I'd pretend that was the situation--if the neighbors are still pissy about it after you move out of "their" territory, then you know more about them than they really meant to reveal.

Maybe the furniture creator can change his code to make it work above the old build limit. Try to contact him to ask. This shouldn't be too difficult to change.
Just moving much higher is the way to go, I think.

From: Whispering Hush AR, that's just as broadly offensive as it gets lol. Not only that but, if the megaprim is encroaching even one other person's property it needs to be reported.

Just to be clear: If this, er, artwork of them encroaches onto any other parcel, AR them right away! There is all reason to do so. Incidentally, I have concerns over Miss Sideways' idea of a reasonable discussion.

Wow. Just really wow. That's about as rude of a prim as I've ever seen. I don't know that AR'ing them will get you anywhere, however that sky does not solely belong to them. I personally don't want any skyboxes next to mine, but I would never in a million years be such a bitch about it. Another thing I would never do would be to stack skyboxes to the point of being piggish about the sky.
On second thought, maybe you should AR this, or at the very least IM a Linden to please come and have a look. This picture tells an ugly story. From what it shows and from the the point of the prim that looks dead at your little sphere world, it is very apparent that this is intentional.

Im not sure there is anything ARable going on here. Yes the sky is full of crap and having tasteless neighbors is one of the potential drawbacks of Mainland living. But just because you don’t like their choice of texturing is no reason to AR someone. And if their stuff is not specifically overhanging on your property I see no offense to you directly. Just build higher. Or, whats it like below 200m to the ground?

From: DaQbet Kish Im not sure there is anything ARable going on here. I believe there is, inasmuch as the OP explicitly writes ... From: spinster Voom Their prim encroaches on three other people's parcels (although not mine) and also overhangs a sim boundary It is besides the point that the encroachment is on somebody else's parcel.

Okay I didn’t pay attention to the link you provided but now that ive seen the picture Its pretty bad…still though I don’t know what category you would want to file an AR under…Harassment? AR and let a Linden figure it out.

Incidentally, I have concerns over Miss Sideways' idea of a reasonable discussion. (^_^) ... I can pretend to be reasonable sometimes. (=_=) NEWay... I say 'yes' because it's a chance to break the ice with this silly neighbor and it may be that they have a bone to pick simply because you haven't communicated yet. But, if their intent really is malicious, their response to your IM (or lack of) can be just what you need for what could clearly be a harassment AR for intolerance. Without a little chit-chat, even if one-sided, you might not have a leg to stand on. (^_^)y

From: DaQbet Kish still though I don’t know what category you would want to file an AR under…Harassment? AR and let a Linden figure it out. "Parcel" and emphasize the prim encroachment. Things have potential to Not End Well if you continue down that road, however. Have you confirmed that your furniture won't work above the old build limit, or are you just guessing based on old behavior?

Why should she be tasked with someone else’s problem unless she was asked by the other neighbors to do so? All I’m saying is if they are not concerned then she could really be the one to end up looking like the bad guy here. If she ARs for harassment, chances are the Lindens will notice the encroachment.

Thanks for your answers folks.
The scripted furniture in question uses the XPose script - it specifically says in the documentation that it won't work above the build limit. I think because it has to rez poseballs and pillows and stuff.
Below 200m is very busy - mainland sim next to Linden road and a few newbie places nearby.
I think I will try IMing them and if I get nowhere I will go ahead and AR.

Why don't you just try it out?

I think because it has to rez poseballs and pillows and stuff. See, the thing is, maybe that's because it couldn't rez poses or whatever when the build limit was lower. But there's a good chance it will work at high altitudes now because the build limit has been lifted. What I'm saying is, it's likely that the documentation was mentioning an SL issue and not an issue with the product itself. Worth a try at least!
