someone please tell me how you make objects appear invisible, example- if you go to sapphire central sim and disable camera restraits in client, then zoom into sapphire moon sim casino and see everything inside except for the gambling machines, can see chairs, everything but not machines. If you fly ABOVE no entry sapphire moon sim and zoom inside casino you can then see and play tables.thats pretty darn tricky, anybody know how its done?

The line about disabling camera constraints says to me that your most likely too far away for the objects in question to be drawn for you. Once your closer the objects show up. No magic trick, just a matter of draw distance coming into play.

I saw a casino recently that I couldn't see the roulette table UNTIL someone clicked it - and then just for a brief moment, you could see it. odd.

Sounds like a script is being used. Normal transparency is limited to 90% or 95%, unless you use one of the full transparent textures. There are a couple of script commands that let you set the transparency to 100%.

It's done with an "invisiprim"
(replying to the OP from the description of the effect)
If you make something and set the textures to 1% transparency, they look exactly the same but from behind an invisiprim they are invisiable. Only objects with 100% opaque textures on them are visible from behind an invisiprim.

From: HoldMy Wood excellent, thanks man! any idea where to get invisiprim? An invisiprim is just a special 'no draw' texture and a script to apply it. If I remember right it has to be refreshed, although I am not certain about it. I picked up the information in a class last fall, but I have never had a reason to use it yet. It is used a lot in shoes, and some of the more 'extreme' avatar modifications. Just check around the scripting forums, or some of the freebie bins in world. It's pretty common.

Rezz up your tables and slot machines ..... and the Lindens will make them DISAPEAR withouth ANY trouble....
Come on mate .. you KNOW its illeagal on SL, why bother, and even more so why alert LL o the fact that you have gambling on a MAIN forum by asking how you can hide them.
*just a side note* Its now been deemed in the uk that online gambling is COMPLETELY LEGAL. But of course we dont have a god fearing bible belt or an el presidente saying how the lord made him ban gambling.

Im glad you took it in good humour as it was intended *s* .... , my point being of course ... that for what ever reason.. the Lindens seem to have bitten on this particular thing and its running the gauntlett unless its free to play. *s*,
But yes .. invisiprms MIGHT work ... personally I think they only work with Avatar parts like the heels in shoes so that the heel doesnt show from the AV's body

As an aside, invisi-prims also have the added bonus that cause occlusion culling to kick-in. It can be touch and go with nearby items, but I use them on the windows of my home to remove all items behind them so I can look out on an uninterrupted sky, which is nice.
As for casinos; is anyone developing a free casino at all? I like casino games just as games, would be nice if there was one where you could win points or something which are ultimately worthless except for getting an idea of how well you're doing. Especially when there must be a lot of good casino games that have been made for SL that are now useless; would be nice to see some made available that don't require L$ but instead use 'points' from some HUD object or something that accumulates them.
I dunno, it just seems like it would still be really cool to have casinos in SL just for the sake of producing some really cool places to hang-out, for example Vegas style casinos. There are plenty of other ways they could make money without having to charge for the games.

From: Marty Starbrook ... or an el presidente saying how the lord made him ban gambling. What a coincidence! Neither do we. We have an el presidente who has done a lot of stupid things, but this isn't one of them. Instead we have corrupt politicians like Bill Frist who said their family values made them ban gambling. Why he decided his family values were more important than mine is a complete mystery, but there you have it. Maybe it was the money he took from B&M casinos like Harrah's. Any corrupt politicians in the UK? Maybe we have that in common as well, along with roots in a common legal system and language. (Except Louisiana. Why Louisiana decided the English legal system was not adequate and went with some sort of silly Napoleanic system is another mystery.) We aren't so bad. We aren't even so different than most Europeans (horrors!). Most of us are actually pretty ok. We just happen to have jurisdiction over LL's servers, so some of our legislative shortcomings are more apparent than yours because they are on display here.

I know one person who is using the cloaking script on theirs. You have to type a code number to cloak and uncloak the slots. And other one I was told, don't know if this is true or not, they use multiple vendors that rez the slots. When the players are done they click on the vendor to de-rez the slot. The vendors can only be used by the people in the group.

I have come across the same phenomenon as described by the OP. It's that prims with scripts (or possibly certain types of scripts) in them tend to drop out of visible range at a distance significantly less than your draw distance. I came across this problem while building. I use a rez-faux box for almost all my builds which tend to be on the large side. I'll frequently find myself so far away from the rez-faux box that it's no longer visible even though the structural prims of my build surrounding it are well within my draw distance and fully visible. If I fly my avatar close enough to my rez-faux box it pops back into view. The distance at which this happens varies between 20 and 50 metres. Don't ask me why... I haven't a clue. The disappearing casino table phenomenon has a much more mundane explanation.... sorry if that kills off your pet conspiracy theory.
