From: Lexxi Gynoid Therefore I'll go with the ability to dance without having to rez anything. Doesn't work too well for synchronised couples dances. Intan allows for one animation pair to be used by multiple couples. Plus sync'd group dancing, not just dances *winks* etc Although why it's called a Couples Dance Ball when it's not a ball is an oddity

From: Sassy Romano Henmations gets my second recommendation behind 3fx but for the absolutely awful naming scheme that i've mentioned before. "Couple Dance 14"? Yes, I always remember exactly what that one looks like (NOT). Everyone else manages to think of names, to be given the excuse that it's not possible is lame, really, yes lame. Oh and the prices are in some cases twice those of 3fx for mocap from the same source but that's their right to set their price, it just makes them not the first place to point anyone to. After finding Henmations, I have a lot of trouble buying dances anywhere else. You can really see the difference motion capture makes. I individually bought 12 of them, and tossed them into my HUD. Then I went out to a few other animation shops and sat on the assorted poseballs. The difference was just shocking to me, as I started noticing all kinds of flaws I wasn't seeing beforehand - points where my AV would break her own bones, or stretch a limb flat from bending off of the proper joint, or otherwise engage in 'enhanced interrogation' of herself... Thank you for the note about 3fx. If I can find my dances there for less, I'll be annoyed, but at least I'll be wiser next time I go shopping. Now I just get frustrated when I go to clubs and bear witness to all that horrid self mutilation people get stuck with because the club owner just wouldn't listen when I told them to stop buying dances at the wrong shops...

Indeed. There's one place I won't mention but when I tried to have a conversation about offering an Intan with 3fx/Henmations dances, he said he used pose balls to be newbie friendly and had the best salsa animations in SL. ...yeah, maybe 4 years ago...

I'm in 3FX now, finally.
Prices seem the same as Henmations - about 250 or so lindens per dance, versus maybe 265 at Henmations. But I can't tell which dances are male and which are female - so it looks like to shop here is going to take a lot more careful observation.

From: Gabriele Graves F.Y.I. For the party I threw at the weekend I purchased an Intan with *every* Bits & Bobs couple dance in it and preconfigured from DMC. I am going to have to remove my recommendation here. Soon after I bought the Intan from DMC they subscribed me up to a mailer that I didn't ask for and then sent me advertising via IM and notecard that I didn't want either. This forced me to go to the store to unsubscribe. This would happen after every purchase - obviously very annoying and intrusive. When I sent them a notecard saying I didn't appreciate this the owner kept trying to justify her actions going on about how it was within the TOS and normal. Well I don't accept that at all and so cannot recommend them to anyone, I will not be taking my business there again either.

From: Gabriele Graves I am going to have to remove my recommendation here... *shakes head* It's SO easy to add dances yourself to an Intan, I'm a little suspicious of most of the businesses that charge a premium to stock them. A little profit, just to pay for the time, sure. But some sellers end up charging quite a bit. .

There's within the bounds of the law or rules, and there is ethical. Bottom feeders that operate down at the bare minimum of 'within the rules' are rarely appreciated and often find the rules getting moved up to just above their heads. Better to be ethical than tolerable.

It was a convenience thing. From: Pussycat Catnap There's within the bounds of the law or rules, and there is ethical. Better to be ethical than tolerable. I could not agree more and it certainly turned out to be the case this time.

That's kind of sad really.
I'm always confused by people who say things like "I'm following the letter of the rules, so buzz off." - That's just not how to manage to be part of a positive community (insert shiny happy hippie hug moment).
Did whatever they put in there catch up anyone who used your dance ball? Or just you? I personally don't get spam. There are some clubs I won't normally go to just because they spam local chat with splodder and picks notices...
I can tolerate garish wall signs. They let me choose. And in fact the first thing I do to support clubs I go to is check the vendor signs and see if I might like something there. I prefer it over tipjars as a way to support. - But don't spam me.
If that business hadn't spammed you, this thread would have served as a great promotion for them.
