I would ask the Linden to the Zoo and we would enjoy Hippos and it would be nice and the Linden would feel sleepy and need to rest and I would shave his or her head. "Sooner or later, everyone goes to the zoo" (the second time I've quoted that here lately...) _____________________

Me, I'd probably just shrug and move on. I mean, I have no personal dislike of any Linden, just with the company, and since the chances are pretty slim I'd meet a Linden with any real power to make changes.. I'd have nothing to say to them. It wouldn't be fair to heap the 'hell' on a Governance Team about the client and sim issues, or about stupid company policies.
I might thank those who have actually done things for me, offer suggestions to those who do make policies/programming, but... I'm really a lazy person in RL. _____________________

Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

if I met a linden in RL it would be a planned meeting, and therefor the events surrounding it would be planned, and that would be like meeting any other friend in RL
(there is one linden who keeps telling me I need to go to the resident convention thing so they can meet me in person LOL) _____________________

Depends on the Linden... most of them I've never even spoken to, if it was someone high up in the chain, I'd try to get them to give me a few islands, etc.. someone lower down, just chat.. and if it were Torley I'd kidnap him and make him talk all the time, cause he's got a voice that just makes you happy (At least for me)

I've met maybe 10 to 15 of the Lindens in-world. As in, I spoke to them sirectly and they spoke to me directly, and it wasn't a rigidly-structured question and answer session, like a Town Hal meeting. Mostly these encounters have been at "office hours" troubleshooting sessions, but also on the Beta grid while working out problems. A few have even come to my home when I needed help with griefer trash on my land. Most of them have been pretty good to work with, actually. I've noticed that the problems with LL seem to be at the corporate level - the individual Lindens rarely get a complaints, except for the ones who are WAY up the chain. I've never seen anyone say, "I met _____ Linden in-world and he was awful." In fact, the vast majority of what I have seen in these forums, where people are very quick to condemn LL, has been very positive about individual Lindens. The negative has all been about corporate decisions (or lack thereof), bad policy, and bad customer service outside of individual contact (can't reach anyone, tickets ignored, jira issues, etc.). Edit: Oh, and if I met a Linden in RL, I'd make typing motions with my fingers whenever I talked to him/her, then I'd strike a bunch of poses while he/she responded. I'd take him/her to lunch or out for a beer, and I'd apologize for having to drive us there - telling them that teleport was borked. I'd whip out my cell phone and show them that all my contacts on there are called (waiting) or (hippo). As we walked in, I'd freeze for 15 seconds or so in mid stride, then blame lag. I hope I meet a Linden with a good sense of humor! _____________________

Yes, Shinru - but working for Linden Lab is pretty interesting. I'd love to work for LL. It's interesting to meet people who work in an area that you have a strong interest in. I met a groundskeeper at Safeco Field once. I probably drove him bananas with questions, but it's interesting because I love baseball and the Mariners (I know, I know. Trust me, I'm in pain right now. Stupid, rotten Mariners). If I met a landscaper, it wouldn't be as interesting, but he had all the little inside scoops on how they prep the field, what game days are like, etc. It was pretty cool. I imagine it's the same thing here. Whether we like it or not, we either love SL, or we have a strong interest in SL (even the really negative people have an interest, or else they wouldn't be here) so meeting a Linden and getting to ask about LL, their job, etc. is more interesting to us than meeting someone who works for some other random internet-based company that we don't care about.

Your car would also have to crash or fall apart every 256m. Every intersection, I'd open the passenger door and shove him out, then cross the intersection and yell at him from the other side, "Hey! Bad sim crossing. Where did you go?" That would get old fast, so I'd switch from that to stealing his shoes and cramming them up his butt. Hah...Geesh...Just a joke, guys! No banning please. _____________________

I'd cook 'em dinner, ply 'em with drinks and try to get the secret inside dope on what it's like working there, are there long-term plans, etc.
On the general "what are they like in-world" sub-thread that has cropped up, I've been here just long enough to have received personal attention from Lindens a couple of times and the folks I dealt with were friendly and capable. I even had one Linden buy something from my shop when it was still brand-new, that was kind of a thrill as silly as it might sound ![]() _____________________

I have met a handful of Lindens and like someone else said, they are just people. Often very enthusiastic and motivated people.
A friend of mine said that one valentines day in the past, you could go and kiss a Linden - Cupid Linden lol _____________________

I'd find the nearest policeman and get them arrested for being the dealer of my addiction. I´m also tempted to do this lmao ![]() I would have to go outside for that to happen, right? (@_@) That could be a problem, yes... so they will be safe for a while... grin No, honestly... they deserve a big hug and a fab diner for enriching my life with some wonderful and special people. |

BBQ'd some burgers and dogs with a Linden (and quaffed some beers). His kids go to the same school as my kids. Living in the SF Bay Area, meeting up with technology folks isn't uncommon. Other friends and neighbors work for IBM, Oracle, Yahoo, HP, and scads of startups. And in the end, LL isn't very different than these companies.
So I guess my answer is - cook and drink beer? |

what if.... one of us... were a linden
I mean, why not? they have resident accounts, and do not usually disclose who they are (I know a few but most do not disclose their alts) anywho, why couldn't they be here, on the resident account, answering questions and such... just a thought... _____________________

Probably chat about SL, as it's what we have in common. I'd love to know more about the day-to-day workings of SL, but I'd kind of try to follow their lead as to whether they wanted to go there or not. I'm kind of boring that way, I guess.
I've often wondered whether I know any Lindens in SL - I mean, they must have alts, right? _____________________

I'd chat about SL with 'em. Mostly more of the technical stuff: servers, etc.
I was always curious why a company would choose an expensive area like San Fransisco to operate in. _____________________
