When you leave SL, out with a bang, or silent into the shadows?

Just curious as I see topics every so often of so and so is leaving, usually posted by so and so themselves.

When you leave SL, will you go out with a bang, letting friends and strangers know you are leaving and why, complete with all the drama and such?

Or will you just kinda slip into the shadows, closing things down, not to be heard from again?

(of course any real friends you have made in SL, you would arrange or have already arranged out of SL contact info)

I am the type to just slip into the shadows, a mere memory in the minds of those who knew me.

When my time comes to leave sl, I will just simply be gone, no big posts to announce I am leaving, and no reasons why, just gone silently into the shadows.

What about you?

PS I know this about myself, because any other game I have played, and decided I was done with, I just simply left, and YES, to me SL is a game, no matter how you twist it, it is a game. (that is not up for debate, since that is merely our own interpretation of this platform we use)

I'd just no longer be there. Anyone who is likely to care would know ... anyone who is really close to me is in RL contact anyway.

If and when I leave it will likely be reasons having to do with problems iwith SL. So, yes, if it gets that bad, I will want to let Residents and Lindens know why.

I would definitely let my friends know and I would probably post something here in the forums only because I have made so many friends here. I do not ever see the need to drag people into drama, however, so I would not go into a long diatribe into the why's and such. I'd just say it's time to go and then do so.

I doubt I'd post here in the forum, but I'd let friends know in-world. Then again, the most likely reason for me to leave would be losing touch with or falling out with friends, so maybe there wouldn't be anyone I'd need to inform.

I give in to courtesy and at least say "Hi" and "Bai" unless I'm surrounded by total strangers. (^_^)

I remember chatting in a crowd a few times with some questions to someone who had just left. After no response I had to look around for a while just to be sure I wasn't added to yet another mute list. (>_> ... (<_< It's still embarrassing and I wouldn't want to put anyone else in that situation. (^_^)y

As for leaving for good?.... I'm too addicted. (=_=) ... I'd sooner hang out day after day in an abandoned mall than quit. (^_^) .... I'm starting to do that already. (T_T)

I'd have a small funeral and hope I wasn't the only one to show up...

Still not sure what will drive or lure me away from SL yet but I guess time will tell.

I'd probably let a few close friends know, and that's about it. That being said, I don't think I would ever completely leave - close up account, etc, it would be more of a case of me spending increasingly more time doing other stuff and signing into SL rarely.

That, and enough people know who I am RL, anyway, that I'm not going to disappear from here without disappearing in RL too (which can sound like a romantically cool thing when you got 3 kids and a minivan, but I like a comfortable bed way too much).

Hopefully when I leave SL it will be flawlessly. Slipped across the ether to visit other electronic worlds, then back again safely.

i would im those whom i have grown fond of, lettign them know why. exchange info so we can stay in touch, then just not log in anymore.

Into the shadows....I've done it before.

Some time back, I had a friend that decided to leave SL. So she wanted to leave in a ball of glory and with that, when on a griefing spree. Needless to say, she was banned everywhere! A few months go by and she decides to come back to SL as an alternate character but lets it slip out, "to a few close friends", who she really is. You want Drama!!!

So it has taught me a few lessons....

1) If you go out like a bear, never come back or never say who you are!
2) If you go out like a lamb, never come back or never say who you are!

I don't think you can really leave SL permanently unless you leave RL permanently. There's always a way to come back. The account(s) stay active and even if they don't you can create a new one. I still think of SL as a 3d world wide web. You can leave a game, but you don't leave the web. It's a part of life now.

I intend to be murdered or assassinated by someone - I intend to be "taken out" by griefers or a crazed newbie or someone maddened by my Resident Answers comments and questions. My partner in SL gets really p***** off when I tell him this but I think it is terribly romantic.
