First off, apparently someone made this accout without my knowledge. I figured the password out luckily.
I want to figure out how to get rid of this account and I want to use the account I created. Not this one. Also I can't see me while i'm playing, let alone leave the initiation island. I just end up in the ocean.
And apparently i'm not getting the emails to activate these accounts, hoping one will work.... I have tried, one account a week and nothing!

Wouldn't you when it was your email used in registration without your knowledge? I never used this before today and I tried to figure out why couldn't log on with the name I created. Took me a minute to figure out what happened so here I am, wanting to get rid of this account and use the one I created....

From: Maiyuka Lane Wouldn't you when it was your email used in registration without your knowledge? but you also said "And apparently i'm not getting the emails to activate these accounts, hoping one will work.... I have tried, one account a week and nothing!" So your not getting emails, but you knew this email was working? If you need help you need to explain fully what as happened.

make sure no one in your home created the account. other than that, you sound like a hacker out to destroy someone's Secondlife.

I'm thinking it is someone in my family.... and I got the image to work and the people who made the adress haven't even edited their character, plus this character was created a while back apparently.
And why would I be a hacker want to destroy this account if i'm actually telling whats going on? I have never been good at explaining so i'll give you a short side....
Someone who knows my email made an account, I can't make MY OWN account seeing as I can't get activation code. And no one is helping me besides my friend who actually is trying to figure this thing out.
SL is screwed up, all I want to do... is figure out how to get rid of this account, and make my own... thats... all. Got it? Not a hacker to get rid of someones account, if I am, i'm getting rid of one who used MY email without permisson and hasn't even fixed their character or left the starting area!

there is no "activation code" for SecondLife. you download the file, after you fill out the registration form/page, then enter the name and password you created on that page. you should have received an email, (check your junk/spam mail folder) saying your registration was successful.
i would still ask before you delete the account.

I haven't made an account in a while.
Do we have activation codes now?
I don't remember them.
How did you find out the name of this account?
What happens when you try to log in to SL and to the SL website with the name you want to use?
Have you checked your spam filter? Done an email search for the word "Linden"?
I don't know what could be done about stopping other people from filling in the email address field with your own email address.

With at least some of the registration sites, you don't get to set your own password, and need to get that email to use the account. That seems to be what this is all about.
Some email services are notorious for discarding these mails, notably Hotmail. Try contacting SL on the phone to see if they can rescue your account, if you liked that name you picked.

@Magie
My friend said there was.... I have asked anyone in the family who uses a computer and has heard of SL, which is only my brother, and he said he didn't make it. So its not anyone in the family. I asked my friends who know my email address that was used, they said they didn't do it.
@Sue
1: I got the email, tried to figure out what it meant so I did a little look around and figured out my email was used for second life, this is how I found out about it. Did a 'Forgot Name' got the name, then 'Password Recover', somehow I got passed that step too....
2: Doesn't work for the account I made, says theres no name that matches it (AKA not valid name). But apparently works fine with this one.
3:Yes I have, but it deletes things ever month so I can't check...
@Peggy
I didn't see that so don't get mad.

Maiyuka, you're seriously going about this the wrong way.
If your email address was used to create an SL account maliciously or even unintentionally, then you need LL to sort it. Abitrarily deleting an account that by your admisson doesn't belong to you, the problem of same email address nothwithstanding, is a cyber-crime in my jurisdiction and you'd end up with an RL criminal record. Get LL to sort it for you.

Well they haven't been much of any help!
I don't care if I get a crimial record for something i'm trying to sort out with the little help i'm getting from people like you and SL staff.
No way i'm going to call them either.

No way i'm going to call them either. Then uninstall SL, delete this website and forget about it. Ain't one person here who can help you. And if you will not call LL then what's left? *I would certainly run my anti maleware/spyware and antivirius though.*

From personal experience, I hate calling for assitance with things on the computer.
Thats what my friend said, he said I would get an activation code in the email sent to me. The page i'm trying to log in is the "Resident Login" I think, main site, top right corner.
I try to login to SL with my new name too and that doesn't work either....

Are you eighteen or older? If you are under eighteen, you should be using a teen grid account, not a main grid account.
What website did you do to to create the account you want to use? Was it secondlife.com or was it one of the third party sites that let you create accounts from their site?
What happens if you try to create a new account using the name you want to use?
It has been possible in the past to have a problem during account creation that ends up with the name marked as used but with no account created that you can use. It has been possible in the past to get the Linden staff to deal with this and make it so that you can use the name you want. It's been years since I did so I'm not sure how things work now.

You manage to figure out both the name and password of an account you knew nothing of ?
You might want to consider getting a job with the CIA or some such.

No way i'm going to call them either. I was a bit curious up until now....now I am just completely suspicious. You don't care if you get a criminal record for something that may be easily resolved by LL, yet you plainly say, "No way i'm going to call them either." That just makes no sense whatsoever. -Blu- (Stepping through the looking glass...)

This story is delving deeper into the Twilight Zone as time goes on.
Unfortunately, there is not much anyone on this forum can do to help the OP, no matter how much she complains. Only LL can solve the problem.

From: Brenda Connolly This story is delving deeper into the Twilight Zone as time goes on. Maiyuka Lane, a seemingly innocent user of a complex place on the internet called Second Life. This person comes to the forum for this program with a confusing tale of deceit and mystery. They think they are asking for help about a problem dealing with a possible stolen account or email regarding Second Life. However, this isn't about Second Life at all. It's about a place they have just taken the entire forum to. A place called (da, da, da, da, dum.....) The Twilight Zone. -Blu- (How can you be in two places at once, when you aren't anywhere at all?)

"The page i'm trying to log in is the "Resident Login" I think, main site, top right corner."
If you're trying to log into Second Life from the website, up in the corner where it says Resident Log-In....that's to log into the forums here. You should have downloaded SL onto your computer and should have a Second Life icon on your desk top. That's how you log into SL. But you should know that if you've already been online there? If the account you made that you're trying to access has no payment info you won't be able to log into the Forums.
