Not quite sure where to put this, since the hangout land thread got buried, so I guess I'll just throw it up here.

I wanted to contribute something to the project, and when I mentioned shoutcast hosting it seemed to pique a few peoples' interest.

So.

Does anyone think the group would benefit from our own shoutcast stream? People may not be able to broadcast at 192k, for bandwidth reasons, but we could still have people share their music, maybe do open mic events, things like that, from time to time?

Anyway, I'll throw in a 30GB/month streaming plan to be included in the jukebox lineup, if people will actually make use of it, and generally think it would be a worthwhile contribution.

Seriously, I've given half a dozen people the commands for the river. I'm not posting it in the forums though so that we don't get a million new people flashing it constantly.

We were hoping to do that but it got tabled initially as being more technically difficult that we wanted to manage at the time. We also were lacking a benefactor to provide hosting.

I do have SAM but never learned to use it. As we already have M.C. Marty in da house, there is someone to help get the ball rolling. I presume Sobq has some experience there also.

Should this become well used, I'll throw some ducats at Sobriquet for additional server capacity. You might even get the mellifluous vocal stylings and widly eclectic mixes of Mr. Petunia, because he knows that Phillip Glass, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Isolrubin BK, and Sqonk Opera are *big* crowd pleasers.

I've set out the Hangglider Party Rezzer on the empty land next to the roadhouse. To use it, just right-click and ride the glider, then press page-up to gain altitude. A new glider will be rezzed so other people can hangglide at the same time.

The gliders are programmed to disappear when you dismount, but that doesn't happen when you crash while flying (either complete crash, or getting tossed when crossing a sim border). If you can find the glider, try riding it again, which usually makes it disappear.

My favorite vehicle in SL. Very smooth and realistic physics. Ty Ava!

@Ava: Cool! I managed to crash Raymond's glider into the border of his neighbour's sim on the first try, maybe it will work better the second time!

I like that idea, Sobri. I'll have to learn more about it, as I know nothing about that stuff. Sounds cool though! Chris Norse is in charge of the jukebox up in the building. He's the goto guy for that stuff.

Doesn't bother me a bit Alyx, I know once these poor girls see the perfection that is me, they are ruined for all other men.
