OK, new thread. Ignore that other one down there.
Here's the scoop:
Land is purchased. Buildings and gardens are complete. It's play time!
We're going to sit down and work out rules about dropping objects on the parcel, as with an open policy, the place will end up looking like my RL neighbor's back yard, only with more stuff and fewer weeds.
We don't NEED donations, but we'll TAKE donations; if anyone is feeling like they just have to do something, they can donate cash or tier. Here's how:
To donate L$: Pay the avatar CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz. Trout Recreant and I are keeping double books to ensure honest accounting practices, so if you donate L$ to that account, please IM or PM me with the amount.
To donate tier: Join the group The Forum Cartel. It's free and open to all. In the Land and L$ tab, you'll see a white field for "your donation." You can enter any amount you feel appropriate.
We'll hold any donations in reserve for now. We've decided to maintain a 20-25% reserve in tier, in case someone wants or needs to pull out their tier. If we keep getting donations, we might consider buying Raymond's plot next door.
There are 7 open ocean sims next to our parcel where people can boat and fly vehicles. We've sectioned off an area in the water so that people can rez vehicles. Please clean up after yourself.
Have fun!
Yours faithfully, Oryx

Just be careful with the river. For some reason it tends to turn to blood.

Pops in to look at this thread. Sees Oryx's post, smiles and thinks, "Ahhhhhh, all is right with the world." Ty so much Oryx, for all that you have done and are doing. We could not have asked for a more trusted and caring officer in charge of this noble, exciting, fun, yet unwieldy project. BTW, if the group decides it wants to buy the land I purchased next door, I will lower the price and sell it for what I paid for it. The cool thing about that plot is it can terraformed to be water or beach or a combo, so we can have a pool area or a little lagoon there. Bits and bobs makes nice "float" pose balls. Not to mention Soul Intentions. Wow, what a work of art...

Ok, there has been some confusion about rezzing of items and return.
In general the largest part of the plot is going to be no build/no enter unless you are a builder or officer. We are going to open the water and a piece of land for rezzing of toys. This area will have autoreturn turned on. Also, we have a group of Managers who have power of return.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

i have innertubes with floating animations that i made. if you want a particular texture on them send me the texture, and i'll place the flaoties in the water, or give them to someone who can, which is what i prefer at this point. MY floating animation is FREE! let's try to keep things FREE! i can make animations and primmed objects for sitting on, so please direct me if you just want a special animation to go with something someone else made, or themed set of prims and animations. so..... $ is not needed, but always accepted? i want to donate $2500L, but maybe i will wait until it is NEEDED. (because... i have my eye on some land, and i would love to snag it up before someone else grabs it, but it's not the end of the world if i dont get it either. i am on a budget, so i have to think ahead). i can always donate next month, i suppose. best to donate now, or wait until we NEED it? i'd love to see the land next door bought, so if that's the goal and we are close, i'd rather do that. talk to me people. boss me around.

one last thing... can i make a suggestion? can we have a thread that is strictly business, and one that is for fun? it's so hard to keep up. this thread will be 3000+ in 2 days and then it'll be a big mess again. thots on a 'Forum Business Thread'

Oryx, and a lot of other people, have moved mountains on this project.
But I'd like to say that you ALL, everyone in the Forum Cartel group, are heroes. When Trout first brought this project up (not much more than a week ago!), I thought "nice idea, but with this many people involved, it'll bog down in discussions and debate and conflict, and never get anywhere."
Was I ever wrong. You guys are absolutely amazing. It all came together so FAST...and the result is so GREAT!! I mean, I knew SL was a great place, but you all have shown me how great it can really be, when a group shares a vision and a purpose and just buckles down to Get It Done.
I might just sell my land and move into the clubhouse as the barmaid, just so I can hang out more with such a great crew. In fact, this whole episode puts me in mind of Spider Robinson's wonderful "Callahan's Place" bar stories.
/me wipes away happy tears and gives everyone a big hug.

Thirds on a business thread!
Alright, not sure which this fits into, but I've just added (and tested with willing vict...er, ah, playtesters *rubs hands*) a custom multipose script to the round seating by the campfire. I've got four poses in there right now, but there's room for lots more.
So ... send me your favorite pose and I'll add it to the seating menu! It'll have to be "copy" since there are 12 cushions it has to be added to.

Fortunately I think we all have the ability to separate business and pleasure. 3Ring, if you are on a budget or trying to save for something, please hold off on the L$ donation. We are ok without it for now and it's not essential that my adjoining plot gets turned into group land. Thanks so much though for the thought.

Yes to expect us to keep a Business thread on topic is a bit of a stretch, and frankly, against what we stand for.....

From: Raymond Figtree Trout In a Speedo is Salvador Dali's most underrated masterpiece. Well, using a real trout instead of paint did severely shorten the life of that particular work.
