Slow rezzing - did LL change loading priorities?

One of my customers is complaining about bad, unusual lag on his home sim. He notices it for a couple of weeks now and thinks it might be related to a pack of sion chicken. I checked the place, but according to sim statistics it is a really healthy place. Time dilation, sim and physics fps are great (.99 and 44-45 all the time). I asked the customer how the lag shows, and he answered that it takes much longer than before for his house and other stuff to show up in his viewer.

I think this can't be related to the sion chicken - and I have noticed similar things at other places, including my chicken free home sim, too. Even when relogging at last location, it takes 20 seconds or more for everything to show up again (even though it should be all in the cache).

Did LL change anything in the loading priorities lately? And am I correct in the assumption that those sion chicken can't be the reason for his graphic lag?

It sounds like it could be client side lag to me. Your customer might have installed a new viewer in that time or could be suffering from some application/device they install slowing down their computer.

Do keep in mind that the cache is dodgy at best, Bond.

What I've always found interesting is the slow rezzing when the lag meter is showing all green. I just attribute it to a slow down in my own connection or system that isn't being picked up by the meter.

That I attribute to the fact that the lag-meter isn't worth the paper it isn't printed on.

Well, maybe if you realize it isn't printed on paper it would work better. LOL

Must admit that yesterday I found random textures loading very slowly, whereas the textures in a neighbouring prim were happy as Larry, I just put these sort of issues down to experience and move along.

If you press CTRL+SHIFT+3 you will see the textures as they load for you, some are quite big (in terms of Kb/Mb) and take a long time to load - these are the cause of texture lag. Some places are able to keep their texture use to smaller textures, other places are not.

But no, the "new and improved, easy to read lag meter," is like the "safety" lights on a car's dashboard. Only lights up with it's too darned late to do anything but be stranded on the side of the road with an overheating engine. Hmm.. maybe more like the check engine light. Great, it's lit. Why is it lit? Who the heck knows, but it's $80 to find out!

I thought a while back, LL fixed the stupid rezz order for textures, so that the textures of things closest to the avatar loaded first, but apparently, not. I was standing next to one of my vendors, waiting for the texture to load and it was the last one... the test one in my workshop loaded first.

You forgot about the "bump" sign on the road after you've already driven over the thing at 60 MPH. LOL
