Hi diamondz, welcome to the forums!

There are SO MANY cool places on the grid, maybe just find another?

In any case, the Lindens don't get involved in resident-resident disputes, so there is really no place you can appeal to for justice on this. Sim owners can exclude whoever they want for no reason at all, so you are probably just out of luck with that particular sim.

$L250 isn't a huge amount of money, really it's a little less than a dollar US, so perhaps just chalk it up to a learning experience?

p.s. Thank you for NOT sharing the name of the place - it is against forum rules *points to stickies* to try to name and shame other residents here.

I thought there was some script that alerted people to which avatars are wearing a HUD?

At any rate, sorry, there isn't much anyone can do. You can look in your transaction history and send a note card to the person you paid it to, ask for a refund and explain why. But I wouldn't hold my breath. :/

There are more reputable landlords. If you rent again, do a bit of asking around first.

I've not heard of this, but there is the Mysti thing that asks you to put your Mysti to sleep, so that thing at least can tell if you have the Mysti HUD attached.

I dunno. Mysti designed both the sleeper object and the hud. There could be some piece of code in the HUD that alerts the sleeper.

To the OP, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Losing the L$ does suck, but it seems to be an experience all of us have. What HUD are you using, by the way?

You can tell by script if someone's wearing a scripted attachment, but that's as far as it goes. You can't tell if it's a hud or resizer scripts or a collar or what, *unless* -- like Mystitool, for example -- it's specifically designed to respond to an inquiry on a known channel about whether it's there or not.

ETA -- come to think of it, I'm not even sure that Mystitool tells anyone it's there -- the object may just say something on the appropriate channel whenever someone arrives on the sim, and your Mystitool, if you're wearing one, picks it up and asks you to turn it off.

The RLV relay would be a better example .. that responds to inquiries from objects, so the object (or its owner) knows who's using a relay and who isn't.

Diamondz, your best bet is to walk away from that sim and not return. Cut your losses, $250L is less than a dollar, so it's not worth chasing. Find another spot. Personally, I just moved to Halligen Islands, and I've been happy there. It has no covenant (which is odd for estate land), and costs the same as you were paying before. I don't know why someone would prohibit anyone from wearing any hud, if that's the case they could simply disable scripts in their area if it's such a big deal. Obviously someone has the wrong idea about you, or someone else was talking smack about you or whatever. In any case, just move and look for a better location. It's not worth your time or effort to try and straighten things out when there's an endless supply of locations both mainland and estate for you to park yourself. If you feel you must try to straighten things out, send one, and only one IM to the owner of the sim, and no one else, explaining the situation, and that you can't continue to stay because it's just easier to find a spot where you're not falsely accused of wrongdoing and leave it at that.

Disabling scripts only disables scripts that haven't taken controls. If they have and they're attached, they will happily continue to function where scripts are disabled. Or, if she builds and lives 50m above ground, scripts will run.

Your OP was really hard to read. I got about half way through it and stopped due to the general lack of punctuation and no capital letters on beginning sentences. To me it looked like one long sentence.

Punctuation and capital letters are your friends, really.

(I'm wondering if this is what texting has brought us to.)

Yes, and the OP mentioned "sum silly hud that controls other avis" which describes RLV to tolerable precision. Because RLV is open source, I suppose one could script anything to behave enough like RLV to spoof such detection--which might be an amusing hobby for one intent on driving the snoopy sim-owner insane.

I didn't read it that way, I assumed it's some hugger/animator thing maybe with facial expressions?

I certainly didn't take away any hint of RLV from it.

Oh, hmmm... didn't think of that. Is the bloody spampire HUD detectable? I guess probably so, at least to other bloody spampires. Yeah, that would be something I might ban from a sim if I could.

This is what I thought was going on in the OP - Isn't there a past thread about a way to detect the Bloodlines hud? People said they were using it to ban Bloodlines activity from their land?

Or did I dream it. Lol.

Hi; curious; you'd ban somebody wearing a vampire hud? oh, because you'd think they were a vampire? Wow, duh, never thought of that, lol. Better take mine off when I go journeying around. I use it on the Virtual Ability sims, to detect vampires, never even thought of removing it when I go somewhere else, got used to seeing just 'who' is a vampire, in the avs around me............

I don't know if I really would or not. I haven't, but I can see somebody might, on the premise that it would reduce the frequency of bite requests annoying customers. As your example illustrates, though, that might be a bad idea. I really haven't studied the whole bloody spampire thing enough to know whether they all wear the HUD when they're huntin' blood or souls or whatever the heck they're trying to collect when they spam people, so no idea the rate of the misses, nor of false alarms.

In the end it's 80 cents you're wasting good breathing timeminutes on useless drama, I suggest just send an abusive venting IM to the person who banned you, who owns the rental system and whoever owns the sim then mute them all and find somewhere else in one of the other 15,000 sims to go.

I think it was NCI Kuula where I saw that vampires are banned on sight or something like that - now I'm a bit shy of stating that I recall absolutely they mentioned the HUD. That's one place I thought I'd seen it mentioned as a detection method and a past thread here also.

Treasure, people wearing it to know who else is about to spampire them is a good point and I bet some places haven't thought of that possibility.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and ask why this pyramid scheme isn't just banned? So many people and places complain about it.

Tegg - advising someone to send an abusive rant to someone else isn't very nice...I got one of those the other night while trying to enjoy the Hangout Christmas party and it made no sense and was not appreciated. I wouldn't wish being slammed with abuse IMs on anyone.

It's not a pyramid scheme, though, at least not in the normal sense of the term -- a financial scam that depends on duping the victims with illusory promises of wealth if they recruit sufficient dupes who, in turn, recruit more dupes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme

It's more like a particularly annoying and intrusive form of viral marketing -- the way the Bloodlines system works, as I understand it, is that players have incentives, purely in terms of the scoring system, to go around biting people. If one of their victims thinks, "ah, this is fun. I want to go around making a nuisance of myself biting people, too" then that's another customer for the game's creators. But the players don't get anything out of it other than the incentives provided by the scoring system, at least if it works the way I think it does.

At least for a while there was some way spampires could sell after-market souls. One chump got himself banned by LL for creating in excess of 500 alts, to be able to harvest the souls and sell them on. No idea if that's still possible.
